Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Apple Valley, California? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Apple Valley?
KATHY EDISS reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
Apple Valley, also known as the Apple of the Desert, experiences high winds in the fall and spring, lows in the 20' and highs in the 60' ins the winter and can get as high as 110 degrees in the summer.Crime such as home and vehicle burglaries are the primary types of crime in Apple Valley. Neighbors have recently joined forces with the police to form a neighborhood watch to help stop and catch some of these criminals. The past several years has brought new upper scale housing to the east end of town and with it an increase in the upper class Caucasian population. The existing older homes are spread through out the town housing more of the lower income population.Overall the people are friendly and helpful. Looking out for each others homes and property and helping if a neighbor is stranded. The 70% Caucasian lives in the newer part of town and the remaining mix of Hispanic, Native American and Latino make up the remainder.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
There are at least 6 or 7 major shopping centers in Apple Valley housing all the retail giants you could ask for: Target, Lowes, Home Depot, Sears, and movie theaters. There are a couple of places that are really good...Buffalo Wild Wings and Viva Maria Cantina. Good food, reasonable prices and friendly service.Several of the Apple Valley schools have won the California Distinguished School award. There are several schools for independent study also. This is not mush of a hot-spot for singles. The population is more family oriented.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
It is a little noisy due to the major freeway that cuts through the town. It is a major thorough fare to Las Vegas and several river towns from Southern Cal.Apple Valley is adjacent to the city of Victorville, just 30 miles south. They are similar in demographics and size. They both have similar stores, housing and attractions. The better hospital is in Victorville - Desert Valley. But Apple Valley is currently building a new hospital.Just on the outskirts of town are some beautiful desert oasis. Quiet, secluded and beautiful natural landscapes. There is also skiing in the nearby Big Bear Mountain resort.
General comments
The town is spreading out and growing rapidly in the past few years. It used to be small and more of a tourist place, housing Roy Rogers and Dale Evans home and museum. But now it is nice but not as quaint.
