Weather in Appleton Wisconsin is the same for the other areas in the Midwest. Very cold in the winter, not a lot of rain, but watch out for the summers as they are hot and have quite a few thunderstorms and tornadoes go through there during the summer months. Snow can get pretty deep and and the cold is..... very cold. The breathing will freeze your nose hairs.
| | The most crimes in Appleton are crimes where people destroy or steal your stuff by use of burglary,larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. The average crime rate in the whole USA is rated a 4 out of 10, and Appleton itself is also rated a 4 by town. | | In the past decade, Appleton has been consistently rated among the best cities with populations under 100,000 in the country. But Im not quite sure how this is the case. They say it is a great place for families but there are a lot of pollutants. They sat it is still a city where in most neighborhoods you can still let your kids play in the neighbourhood - even after dark - without worrying that they're going to be hurt, but I wouldn't let my kids stay outside after dark here. Well anywhere for that matter.
| | The Ethnic mix is just that, a mix of White and black mostly however, the people who live here DO NOT like the people from out of town especially if you're from Illinois. They might give you heck for that and then call you a FIB.

Downtown Area | | Restaurants | | Schools | | Single life |
There's so much to people to like about the Down-town area of Appleton. There are 60+ distinctive shops, 50+ casual and fine dining restaurants and the wide variety of ethnic restaurants... Somewhere around 30 pubs, clubs and live music hot spots for the adults. It has a leading performing arts centre and world-class visual arts gallery. It has many family-friendly activities and attractions with a variety of coffee shops and gathering places.
| | I would have to say that some of the best restaurants in my opinion are The Melting Pot, The Red Ox Supper Club, Nakashima of Japan, Jimmy John's, Lemmongrass & Stone Cellar Brew Pub. | | They say the public school system is an excellent one, paid for for the most part by property taxes, They are high because the area supports its schools. The high schools offer many Advanced Placement classes. The middle schools start teaching foreign languages in seventh grade. The school system also has a charter high school for the arts that is led by a fantastic teaching staff. The private schools are also high quality. But I know none of this first hand, as my children, nor I attended any of their schools. | | Yes, there are opportunities for singles, as long as you drive, or the person your interested in does because being in a country setting, places here are often spread out and on the outskirts. If you like hunters and those who enjoy wildlife, you have even more chances. The rate of singles, both make and female combined is 41% which on average means you have about a 1 in 5 that a person that fits your sexual orientation, is single. |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
Not really any area's with Unusual noise. Appleton is pretty laid back and in a country setting. So you wont have to worry about noise being an issue.
| | I prefer Waukesha Wi, or even Milwaukee Wi, to this place to be honest. Waukesha is a little more upper class, and cleaner. Not to mention there aren't so many billboard advertisements for strip clubs. and happy endings. I also like Kaukauna because they have a lot more things to do for kids in the summer time.
| | There are a few good ones there like Appleton Medical Center, The Children's Hospital of Wisconsin & Fox Valley, and St. Elizabeth's are all good, from what I have heard.
| | I would have to say some of my favourite places to go in Appleton are, Appleton Memorial Park, the Hearthstone Historic House Museum, and the The History Museum at the Castle. |
General comments | | | | | | |
When you first get into Appleton, one of the very first things you notice is the smell. It stinks. But it is in a nice country setting. I dodnt like all the billboards posted on the way cause most of them are promoting sex, and strip clubs, and show pictures of females who have no respect for themselves. I think that is not appropriate for children to see from the car, anywhere. | | | | | | |
