WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
In the summer time Augusta is really smoggy and cloudy. I think that it has mostly to do with the transportation. I haven't seen any city buses so I would only assume that a lot of people who live there use cars, trucks, and vans to go to work or drive around. Winter times the roads are pretty icy. I don't think that the state's capital really does a lot with snow removal and keeping the roads as dry as they can. It's windy in Augusta but I think it's because of the rivers. There are a lot of Rivers there.Crimes, I haven't really heard too much about crimes in Augusta. Maybe because the police are so thick there. In the past I have heard about Robberies and since Waterville is so close I would have to say a child missing. Ayla Rynolds. That is the biggest crime I've heard about in the past years. It will continue to be the main topic of trying to find her. I would be watching my kids just incase, though I am sure that the disappearance had something to do with a few family members. The worst part of Augusta I would have to say is WaterVille. I think that since the disappearance of Ayla I wouldn't want to live there. I know that some stranger didn't take her but still, all over the news and still they have not found her its been a few years and still fresh from news reports and it would just make me uneasy to go around and hang out there. The houses in Augusta seem to be kept up well enough. There are some apartments that looks like they could be Victorian houses. The rent there is much cheaper than in Lewiston. Though I wouldn't move to Augusta because for me that's too far away from my friends and family and I have lived close by to Augusta and didn't like it. I have no car so I have no transportation to do what I want to when I want to. I think it would be a big help if I had my own transportation to do the things that I want to. Then maybe it would be different.
I wouldn't see hippies living there. I don't see too many people like that walking around Augusta or Waterville area. I think that they wouldn't be acceptable because of the way they dress. I don't think that would make Augusta people a little leery or there would be more crime rates if there were more hippies around.Just for the simple fact of the matter is people would like to cause trouble for them because they are new and with all people either you like them or you don't. A lot of people would go on appearance alone and never really get to know the person. It's what they see and how you present yourself.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
Downtown is filled with shopping complexes. There's a lot of stores that are in the same circle so you don't have to worry about crossing the street or walking down the road to go to another store. It's almost like a little circular mall. You come out of one store to go into another one.Applebees seems to be the best place to go to eat. I like AppleBees for the simple fact that they are fancy on the inside of their Restaurant and before they come with your meal they give you baskets of bread to eat so that you don't complain about the time of getting your food. I think that is the main reason why they set out bread. Lol but whatever works right?Public school is decent for them. They make sure that the kids have healthy snacks at school and every Friday the school sends all kids home with a box of food. I don't know if it's a state thing or if they decide to do it for families that don't have enough food throughout the month.I don't know Augusta well enough to say that there are a lot of single clubs or bars in Augusta. I am sure that there has to be some though. I mean the best way to really look is to search sites and search Augusta Maine.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
There is a lot more traffic going through Augusta and I think it's because its the state capital. People who live in Augusta like riding around and I'm sure that there is much more traffic there going by. Just as much as Portland does.WaterVille is the nearest town, Next to Augusta and I think that Jefferson in the next one so Augusta is kind of like in the middle I suppose. Jefferson I hear that the schools are better there. My step kids go to Jefferson schools and they seem to like it better there than they did when they lived in Augusta. I stayed with them for a few weeks and they weren't too happy about switching schools from Jefferson to Augusta. Once they moved back to Jefferson they were much happier with the school system and they had their old friends back.
Augusta Medical Center. I've never been there, but I have had my stepson go there on occasion. I haven't heard his mother complain about their care. He seemed to like the doctors enough to go back again and again for whatever he needs taken care of for injuries. The shopping stores. You have Kmart up there, the Family dollar, Payless for shoes and I think that they have a good shopping system altogether. So I enjoy shopping up there when I have a ride.
General comments
Impressions of this town. I think that they have it well put together. I would live there if my family and friends lived in Augusta. That's the only reason I don't live there. The houses seem half way decent and as long as I have a good neighborhood I could let my little ones go outside and play in the yard. I could and would go there. I think that I would have to take a taxi to make sure that I got my shopping done for the month and get stuff for my kids that they need. That would be once a month though. I really don't think that it would be a bad place to live at all.
