In northeast Bakersfield there is the quiet rural area of Rio Bravo. Allot of white and Asians live in these areas. Bakersfield's east side is filled primarily with Mexicans and African Americans, the farming part of the town is definitely the poorest part of Bakersfield.People are still very friendly in Bakersfield. With the motto "Where the child comes first" the public school system has a high number of graduates and also has several colleges for students who wish to move on.The singles scene is a little better for women than men. There seem to be allot more single men then women due to the amount of farmers in the area.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
The 5 freeway is very noisy and those living around the area have become accustomed to the noise. Farming can be loud also but there are a lack of people in the area to be bothered by the noise.Bakersfield is exactly in between Los Angeles and Fresno, both are 110 miles away from the city. Bakersfield has quite a bit in common with Fresno but not much with Los Angeles. Bakersfield is an older farming community that is still close to it's roots. Bakersfield does have allot of chain's that make it feel like a big city. The best hospitals in Bakersfield are San Joaquin Community Hospital, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, Sagebrush Medical Plaza and Mercy Southwest Hospital.Check out country musician Buck Owen's Crystal Palace and museum for a great experience. The Links is an amazing golf course open to the public. The Kern County Museum is a great stop if you want to learn about the history of the area.
General comments
Bakersfield is a great little farming community. In Bakersfield you can still experience life the way it was in central California at the turn of the century. Even the downtown financial district doesn't have any buildings over 12 stories. This is a great city to explore and relax in.
