WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
The weather here is awesome! It isn't too cold and it isn't too cold year around. It very rarely gets too hot and when it does, its a record breaker. Same with when its cold. Spring and fall are around 70 degrees and this is perfect. There have been flooding and disasters that have happened due to the weather, but not on a continuous basis. They have been know to have Hurricanes, like Hurricane Katrina and the folks are still trying to recover while growing closer as a community. There is more crime here then the cities that surround the area. Mainly assault and stealing things. I haven't been someone who has been assaulted, but have had my bike stolen. There are other crimes as well, like in any other bigger, popular place on the map because those places draw more people. More people, more crime. Id be more concerned being someone from out of town, and walking up on someone's property without invitation, then I would be with being assaulted for no reason.

Prairieville is a really nice place. Its relatively close to Baton Rouge compared to Denham Springs and Zachary/Baker. Also, several people I know live off of highland road and there are some nice neighbourhoods and houses in that area as well. Out of the places not mentioned I would rule out Gardere. Its not a terrible place, but the other places mentioned are better in my opinion.
The people are hospitable to a degree, but not so much if you look like you're from out of town. People here stick together. This place has a lot of history to it, and a lot of emotional connections. The people are friendly and family oriented and once they get to know you, they become like family. Most of the population is of Black decent, adding to its amazing history and tales that stem from here weather it is recipes, handmade goods, what you learn being outdoors instead of playing video games and watching T.V, this is the good ol south! They love their music, their food and their families.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown area is amazing. They have just about everything you can think of from coffee houses to night clubs, farmers markets, to hand made craft stores. There is usually always something going on during the weekends, and it changes often.
Ruth's Steak House is amazing.. but be prepared to spend some money. The Kona Grill is another of my favorites along with Roberto's On River Road.
Things have gotten better since the flood. And due to it communities and families have pulled together including within the school system. Its something beautiful after the rain.Like any place there is always opportunity for singles, unemployed, homeless, you name it. The more you surround yourself with people, the better chance there is so Id recommend visiting some of the events and shops downtown of hooking up with someone is your goal and keeping in mind, about one in 12 are single.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
The only loud places I can think of is Donaldsonville rail-road yard but they are thinking about closing it because it is so loud there.

Marrydale, Brownfields, and Port Allen are the closest cities around. Marrydale's population is mainly of black decent and they have more weather activity then in Baton Rouge, including floods and Hurricanes. It is a nice little town rich in cultural values. Port Allen is a smaller community but beautiful! There are a lot of outdoor things to appreciate here and jobs are available because of the industrial areas. Brownsfield on the other hand is mainly of white decent and North of Port Allen and Marrydale. Something all these places do have in common though is they don't like Obama.
Baton Rouge General Medical Center is the best and the biggest Hospital here. The next best would be The Summit Hospital.Downtown is one of the best places to visit I think. The food is amazing at just about any restaurant especially if you love Cajun! They also have an Art Market that is awesome to visit full of hand made items. In addition, they have an IMAX, the Planetarium, the Shaw Center, and the Manship Theater which are all fun places to visit, even for the kids!
General comments
When I came to Baton Rougue, I was all about the food. I was consumed with it for days and didn't concern myself with anything else. In doing that I got to really get to know some great folks. I felt welcome, and apart of each family. It feels like a place called home passed down to you after generations and generations of family.
