Bayonne Reviews New Jersey Message Board
City/State
Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Bayonne, New Jersey? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Bayonne?
Kathleen Odenthal reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
Winters are unpredictable. Some feel like falls or springs, others can be the worst winter of your life, trapped in snow for months on end. You can't ever try and predict New Jersey weather, but your best bet is to count on snow, and lots of it!When I lived in a town near by, I was a victim of assault, robbery, and almost all of my friends had been victims of some sort of gang violence. Bayonne is much safer. There is never a problem walking around late at night, no gun violence, its a quiet neighborhood where I am happy to raise my family. If you leave Bayonne and are still in New Jersey, you are probably in a bad part of town. Most of Bayonne is a good area but the area south of Broadway is a low income area where much of the crime occurs. Across the bridge is Staten Island, another fairly pleasant area with low crime, middle income families. The people in Bayonne are SO friendly! You can't walk down the street without at least half of your neighbors saying hello. Mostly Irish and Italian, Bayonne is very community oriented and everyone treats each other like family.
RestaurantsSchoolstown comparison vs.General comments
The best restaurants are anything local. The Little Food Cafe is one of the best places in Bayonne for breakfast, then we have a wealth of authentic pizzerias, but Tony's is the best when it comes to a good slice! The public schools in Bayonne can't be beat. With strong art departments, the Bayonne Public School Department is the only public schooling in the area actually worth atteningThis is by far one of the best towns in the area. We have good schools, low crime rates, friendly neighbors and a strong small business community. Nearby towns like Jersey City and Newark are very niche, filled with rude citizens, high rent apartments and tons of crime.Town feels like home walking around Broadway or Avenue C. Its hard to not see someone I know or at least a friendly face to brighten my day. I love living here.
