The summers are usually hot, humid, and sometimes rainy. There will be long dry spells, and then days of rain. It is usually in the 90s during the hot summer days.
In the winter, it stays warm, even though it cools down to the fifties. It snows occasionally, but hardly gets that cold. | | There is a decent amount of crime. There are some thefts. The most recent incident I recall was a bomb threat that called in to the Bojangles fast food restaurant near downtown. They had to shut down for the day, but nothing ever happened. | | The entire town is rundown. There aren't really any good parts. Every neighborhood has rundown houses even though there are a few larger, nice houses mixed in. The majority race is African American. The best houses are a few minutes from downtown, but they are still in a bad part. | | Most people seem to be friendly in little interactions, such as paying for gas, ordering food, etc. There are a lot of Hispanics and African Americans. |

| The downtown is pretty nice compared to the rest of the area. There aren't really any places to shop except pawn shops, but court house is extremely nice. There is a big fountain out front, and it's a popular spot for people to have weddings. | | The best restaurants are all fast food places. Chinese, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Bojangles, and KFC are pretty much the only options. | | There is one public high school. While some students enjoy it and stand by it, it looks old and beat down. It's not a huge school, but it's not extremely small. Almost everyone goes there because there are no other options. | | There are no opportunities for singles unless you're student at one of the schools. | There are no busy highways or planes nearby. The city is very isolated, rural, and mostly quiet. | | About twenty minutes away is Laurinburg, NC. It's a safer environment and has more places to eat and shop. Further south is a city called Florence, SC. That is probably the best and closest city to travel to. There are movie theaters, a mall, several restaurants, hospitals, and place of business. Many residents of Bennettsville either go there or to Laurinburg for recreation. | | The best hospital in the region is Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC. While there is a local hospital in Bennettsville, their record is very spotty. Their opinions have consistently been proven wrong, so it's not a place one would want to go for help. | | There aren't any places to visit around town except for the courthouse. There is a very small country club that has a nine-hole golf course and tennis courts, but even it looks rundown. |
