Blacksburg is a mountainous city located in the Appalachian mountains. This has a dramatic effect on the climate. Summers are often mild ranging from 65-85 F and winters can often bring in quick cold burst followed with snow.Crimes tend to be more often than not drug and alcohol related. Blacksburg is a youthful city made up of many college students who tend to get bored quickly and binge drink. Crimes are domestic in nature ranging from bar room brawls to fights after a football game against rival teams. After a Virginia Tech football game the fans can be tipsy and this leads to words said and often a punch thrown.Beings that Blacksburg is a college city the town is relatively safe. The good neighborhoods are located on the North Side of the city and that is where the higher priced real estate is also. The city is predominately populated by middle income white Americans.People are generally friendly and open to outsiders and those visiting from other states for sporting events at Virginia Tech. In the autumn on game days the locals do not like associate with outsiders of rival teams and can get the cold shoulder. Blacksburg is deep in history and tourist in search of the past are often warmly welcomed with a touch of Southern hospitality. The city also has a minority of African Americans who are polite and welcoming.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown is very clean with a few shops and cafe's. The downtown offers the visitor a beautiful landscape of greenery and situate in a higher altitude. If shopping at a supermarket or retail store they are located on the outskirts of town. The restaurants tend to be the standard norm with most cities in the USA. If wishing to try new foods and have a fun day the best advise is to go to a tailgating event before a home football game on an autumn day. Vendors set up stands and the food is excellent. The atmosphere is vibrant and just fun.The public schools are some of the best in the State of Virginia. The schools have newer buildings, excellent sport facilities and have access to the Universities libraries.Singles under 25 have great opportunities to find romance because of the large University centered in the city. if over 25 years old and educated the opportunities are vast. Virginia Tech employs well over 10,000 educated professionals. If your single and have a white collar job the opportunities are endless in your search for finding love.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
Blacksburg has an airport near and often planes can fly over and cause annoying sounds.Radford and Christiansburg lie to the south of Blacksburg. Both these cities are under-par if compared to Blacksburg. One will notice instantly the huge differences in infrastructure and standard of living. Blacksburg is also a more intelligent city compared to the two. People are more educated and classy in Blacksbug. The LewisGale Hospital is the best. They offer comfortable beds and the best medics around. Also many who are enrolled at Virginia Tech working on their Doctorate can be found practicing at this hospital.Virginia Tech University. The university has beautiful architecture and a vast library. The campus itself is very beautiful and rich in youthfulness.
