Weather | | How much crime? | | What are the neighborhoods like? | | What are the people like? |
Boulder City lies about 25 miles out of Las Vegas,NV and is the "Doorway to Hoover Dam" which is on the border of Nevada and Arizona. The weather is similar to Las Vegas, but there is a small mountain range between the two which prevents most of the Vegas valley winds. The temperature range goes up to 120 degrees during the summer months, down to a low at night during the winter monthe around freezing. Unlike Vegas, if a freak summer storm happens, it all drains straight into Lake Meade. Lake Meade constitutes the Northern border of Boulder City. | | Boulder City has almost a zero tolerance policy on most things, so crime rarely happens there. Maybe the occasional theft from am/pm or something, but it definitely has the lowest crime rate in the area. Another example of crime in Boulder City might be a child stealing someone else's bike by accident at school. Gambling and prostitution is also not allowed in Boulder City so this contributes to the low crime rate. | | Seeing as how there is almost no crime in Boulder City, most of the town is safe. There are always one or two bad seeds in every town, but they are hard to find in town. There are only 4 squad cars in Boulder City, because they don't need any moe. It's a very quiet, safe place to live. | | The people of Boulder City are quiet and very helpful. People will actually stop and help you if your car is broken down, or let you use their cell phone if you need too. The population of Boulder City are mostly older people who have retired from Vegas, and want to be near it, but not in it. It's a very nice town. Still a little tourism orientated, but not so much as to loose it's charm. |
Downtown Area | | Restaurants | | Schools | | Single life |
Very... It's all within a 1/8 mile stretch and provides everything from water ski rentals to groceries. And all within walking distance from each other. | | All the business's are on the main drag. A few small restaurants and a small variety of fast food spots. Dairy Queen and McD's are usually the busiest. Most restaurants are connected to small hotels driven by the tourist industry, so the food is descent to eat. | | The quality of Boulder City schools is very high. They don't want their children to have to go to school 30 miles away in Vegas, so they maintain the school system quite well. It is almost as clean as a Mormon town like you were in Utah... Almost. | | As with most cities near or around Vegas, the city of lights is only a hop, skip, or jump away and available 24 hours a day for singles. As far as the in town situation, there really isn't much except for the city park of down by the lake. |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
The only major noises in Boulder City are the planes turning for final approach at McCarran Airport in Vegas. Other than that, only the occasional hot rod passing through town will disturb your peace. | | The two closest things to Boulder City are Hoover Dam and Lake Meade. Both offer an array of things to do from tours of the Dam, to para-sailing over Lake Meade. It is a man made lake and covers a lot of recreational space to be used by all. The closest town is Henderson which lies half way to Las Vegas on Boulder Highway. Boulder City is about the same size a Henderson, but Boulder City isn't as dirty or unfriendly. | | Boulder City has 1 small hospital that is plenty able to assist almost any patient with a problem. Las Vegas has several medical facilities which are only 25 minutes away, or 5 minutes by chopper. It is located on the main drag like everything else. Aside from housing. | | The nicest places to visit around Boulder City are the beautiful parks and landscape that nature and Lake Meade provide, plus they are free to the public (unless you need to launch a boat). |
General comments | | | | | | |
This small town makes you feel almost at home when you visit it. The one main street (Boulder Hwy) has almost all of the businesses in town on it, and all of the eating establishments on it. It makes for a quick shopping trip on the way to Hoover Dam. If you were to be dropped in any random town in the mid west somewhere, Boulder City would feel like that. Very friendly and helpful towards others, whether they are from there or not. | | | | | | |
