Meagan reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
Bowling Green weather is mostly mild. The summers can be very hot and the winters have cold days, but there is rarely much snow and the coldest of the cold spells don't last long. Rain is frequent in the spring and fall. One crime that I have heard about is a series of car break ins. This seems to happen periodically in the large parking lots on the university campus. There are lots of really nice neighborhoods on the outskirts of town. Closer to the downtown area the neighborhoods are run down. A lot of the streets near the university have older homes and are not very desirable neighborhoods but some of them are being torn down and renovated. The people in Bowling Green are generally friendly but a large percentage of the population are college students who are not from Bowling Green and have little interaction with the residents.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown is nice. There is a great park with fountains for kids to play in. There is tons of shopping in Bowling Green as well, though not downtown. The best restaurant in Bowling Green is probably Mariah's. It was founded in the early 1800s and has a beautiful building with a two-story dining room and great, classic American food, but is not a chain. The county has great public schools. They hire a lot of teachers from the education program at Western Kentucky University. There are some opportunities, but not many. They mostly are related to the college being there.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
There's not a lot of unusual noise, though depending on the area you might hear the sounds from football or baseball games. A new minor league ball park was recently built on Kentucky Street. It's larger than most of the other towns nearby. The largest city around would be Nashville, which is about an hour's drive away. But compared to the small towns in Warren County, it has far more options for dining and shopping. There are only two hospitals in Bowling Green. For something very serious you'd be better off being taken to a hospital in Nashville. You definitely want to see Western's campus. It's beautiful and sits at the top of the hill so you have a great view of the whole city. You'll always want to check out the Corvette Museum because Bowling Green is the home of the Corvette.
General comments
The town is comfortable. It's not a large city but there are ample restaurant options and a fair amount of choices for things to do.
