Life in Camden, Arkansas

Camden Reviews Arkansas Message Board
City/State
Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Camden, Arkansas? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Camden?
Joe Mitchell reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
Summers are hot and humid. Humidity is high. Winters are mild, but humid. the humidity made the cold worse. There is high crime in areas of town, especially Adams Street. The area around Adams Street is very bad. There are panhandlers. I would not drive in this area at night. The good areas are the north side of town; the northwest area and the area known as Fairview in the far south. Many people are friendly, but the people in the Adams Street area should be avoided.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSingle lifetown comparison vs.
Downtown shopping is good. there are many stores downtown.Allens is goof for barbecue. Woods Place is good for fish. This is a small town and there is not much for singles. After the closure of the paper mill the local economy has gone down.Camden is a less desirable town than Magnolia or El Dorado. All three towns need jobs. Magnolia and El Dorado have a better atmosphere.
Best hospitalTourist attractionsGeneral comments
The local Ouachita County Medical Center is good. The Ouachita River is an attraction in town.Areas of Camden are nice, but overall it has a bad quality. Large ares of town are like a ghetto. Adams Street should be avoided. The best areas are Fairview in the far south of town. There is industry across the Ouachita river in East Camden. Camden seems to be a town in decline. the closure of the paper mill was a heavy blow.
