Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Claremont, California? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Claremont?
KATHY EDISS reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
Claremont sits at the foot of the Angeles National Forest. The winters are rainy and temps range from 30's to 60' and summers are nice and mild with temps in the 50's to 80's. It is very unusual for Claremont to get snow but it has happened. The crime in Claremont is mainly property theft. It is a sleepy college family town where everyone knows everyone and neighborhood watch is very prominent. The best part of town lies from the mid to north end. It has some newer homes (built past ten years) but primarily has numerous older, almost historic homes. Nicely kept up and well manicured front yards. The residents are primarily higher income Caucasian families. The south end of town has older less kept homes and more condos for rent to students. The people are very friendly. It has a small town charm, everyone knows everyone, shop clerks and restaurant help are very nice and helpful. The ethnic mix changes due to all the students that come and go but Caucasian is about 40$ with Hispanic 30% and the rest is a mix of Black and Asian.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown area is wonderful. Tree lined streets, leisurely stroll to all the coffee shops, art galleries, boutique shops, and pubs. There is plenty of outdoor seating to people watch. The town is full of unique international restaurants. A few of the best ones are Aruffio's Italian, Crepes de Paris and Casa Moreno Mexican Bar and Grill. All have a reputation for great food, service and good prices. There are 5 colleges in Claremont for undergrads. They have small classes, outstanding professors and great interaction between the students and teaches. It is a great town for singles. College age or older. There are many coffee shops to sit and study as well as a few bars and lounges and nightclubs.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
Claremont is fairly quiet where it sits by the mountain. There is occasional airplane noise from the airport about 20 miles away.Claremont is unique in that it is a small college town and the cities bordering it, Rancho Cucamonga and Upland, are filled with newer neighborhoods, businesses and shopping malls. Two hospitals in the region that can serve all of one's need are the Claremont Medical Center and the Pomona Valley Hospital. There is golf nearby and skiing in the local mountains. And of course the college campus' are beautiful as well as just walking around downtown.
General comments
This is such a nice town. There are small restaurants lining the street with outdoor seating. Nice coffee shops to sit and read and great shops. This is an older town so there are many mature trees lining the streets as well as some older historic buildings that have been renovated.
