Renee Cohen reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
The summers here are relatively hot and humid. The average temperature during the summer is 90' to 95'. If the day has been usually hot (95'or so) residents will experience a thunderstorm with dangerous lightning, heavy rain, and occasionally hail. The winters are pretty cold. The average daytime temperature is about 30'to 40'. Some winters bring a lot of precipitation in the form of snow, sleet, or freezing rain. Although, snow doesn't remain on the ground the entire winter, it does occasionally show up. Occasionally the winters are mild with temperatures of about 50' to 55' during the day. Winter nights here are cold no matter how you look at it. The Spring and Fall seasons are very short but extremely nice. The small town of Clover sees its share of crime from sexual assaults to thefts. The number of sexual assaults is on the rise. This small town has a large number of registered sex offenders per capita. Armed robberies, car thefts and burglaries are on the rise in this small town. The best side of town is the east side of town near the Lake Wylie, SC boarder. The homes and apartments on this size of town are larger and newer. These homes are typically single family style homes. The landscaping is nice and the lawns are well kept. The worst side of town is more toward the west side of town where the homes are smaller, older and ran down. The east side of town is occupied by majority Caucasians and a few African Americans. The west side of town is occupied by majority African Americans and a little Caucasian. The people in this town are warm and friendly for the most part. There are a noticeable amount of rude and unhappy individuals in this town. One could associate this type of behavior to the tough economic status of the town. Most of the residents in this town are blue collar workers. There is a large community of retired individuals and 99% of them were born and raised in Clover. The young residents of the town are seemingly still dealing with growing pains and many of the ones "with nothing to do" contribute to the negative increase in crime for the town.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown area is nice and well kept. The buildings have been renovated and a lot of individuals are now occupying the spaces offering great food, shopping, and coffee. The best restaurants are Patti-O Grill, The Pizza Man and Eagles Nest. The public school system in this town isn't the best because it is part of a system which is ranked one of the lowest in the country, South Carolina. This is not a town for singles ready to mingle but if you are single looking for a place to save money and eventually move, then this town may work for you.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
There is a railroad which runs through Clover, SC and it can be annoying at times.Clover, Sc to Gastonia, NC- Clover is a very small town which borders Gastonia, NC. It doesn't have a lot of available jobs or area for career development. Gastonia, NC is a larger city with more job opportunities. Gastonia also has a community college which allows individuals to broaden their education and increase their opportunity for career advancement. There is not a hospital in Clover, SC but the closest hospital is Gaston Memorial in Gastonia, NC and Kings Mountain Memorial in Kings Mountain, NC.The nicest place to visit is the downtown area and the parks of Clover, SC.
General comments
From a glance, Clover appears quiet and laid back. The overall consensus of the attitudes here seem nice and polite. The overall appearance of the town is pleasing to the eye but as you peek deeper into the town, you will sense the feeling off dread and defeat which undoubtedly seeps out. This negative impression can be seen and felt when you ride through the under privileged areas of town.
