Life in Cypress, California

Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Cypress, California? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Cypress?
Jayden Tamayo reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
Nothing too extreme about the weather. In the summer it gets warm to hot. Most homes have pools to keep people cool. The fall is beautiful here. The leaves are changing but it's not overwhelmingly chilly. This is the best season to me. In the winter, it can get kind of cold. In the spring there's a lot of wind and a little rain but nothing too serious. In the neighboring city of Garden Grove, there is a Facebook group called West grove neighborhood watch. The users on there, constantly update about what's going on in the neighborhood. Since West Garden Grove is really close to some parts of Cyprus, what goes on on the website can have something to do with Cypress, as well. In the three years I've lived here, there are only two things I can think of that happened. In my neighborhood there was someone breaking into cars and stealing things. And in another neighborhood close to mine, there was a man who broke into a house and killed himself. The best areas of Cypress are between Cerritos Ave and Valley View St. and Knott St. and Chapman Ave. These areas are bordering West Garden Grove and Los Alamitos which are great areas. This area is primarily white and middle class. The homes seem to have been built between the '90s until now. The least favorable areas are Lincoln Ave and Moody St and Ball Rd. and Moody St. These areas are close to Hawaiian Gardens which is lower income. The area is primarily Hispanic and middle class. The homes are a bit older and have less curb appeal as a whole.Everyone really keeps to themselves. I have not had any issues with neighbors, nor have I heard of anyone having problems with their neighbors. The area is primarily white but there are of course some Hispanic, black, and Asian families. Along with many mixed race families. There are mostly parents with their kids but there are some single and elderly people. I think most of the families here have gone to college, are going to college or have kids in college.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
We don't really have a downtown shopping area. The closest places for this type of scene is Downtown Huntington Beach and Belmont Shores in Long Beach. To me, the best restaurants are Katella Deli on Katella Ave. and Fugi Revolving Sushi also on Katella Ave. Katella Deli is a Jewish style sit down restaurant, deli, and bakery. Fugi is a revolving sushi restaurant that is inexpensive, delicious, and has great customer service. The schools have a lot of after school programs to help kids with grades and of course the AVID program in middle schools and high schools in the cypress/West Grove area is fantastic. I would give the schools a 9 out of 10.There aren't many singles here. Since there are so many cities nearby, I don't think living in Cypress would be a problem because you could always meet people in Huntington Beach or Long Beach.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
There is an army base in Los Alamitos which is not far from Cypress, so occasionally, you will here planes, jets, and helicopters.Neighboring cities are Garden Grove and Stanton. In Stanton, there are many low income homes, homeless people, and prostitutes. West Garden Grove is really nice and has a real community feeling. East Garden Grove is further away and has more a Stanton feel to it. It is more expensive to live in Cypress and West Grove than it is to live in Stanton but I feel that the price is worth it for more curb appeal to your home and better schools.Los Alamitos Medical Center is the closest hospital. It is a pretty fantastic hospital. I had my daughter there and the nurses were so nice and attentive and no one was trying to give me the boot after one day.Of course, there is Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm. They're both about 10 minutes away. Newport Beach is not too far and there are cute shops along the clean beach. Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach has tidal pools and is a great place to go with the kids.
General comments
Cypress is generally thought of as "the ritzier part of town" by the other cities near by. It's not as swanky as South Orange County but I have to say I think it is the best location to pick in North Orange County. Cypress High School is the rival school to all the neighboring schools. Yet I do not think Cypress has a rival. The stores and restaurants are a little higher end, in looks, than other places nearby.
