Weather | | How much crime? | | What are the neighborhoods like? | | What are the people like? |
The weather in Delta is very nice. There are four seasons, but there are no extreme temperatures, high or low. There is snow on the ground in the Winter, mud in the Spring, and the town is beautiful in the Summer and Fall. It rarely reaches temperatures below 20 degrees, and in the Summer, can reach into the low 100's. The town has a very nice climate. | | I have directly experienced crimes of theft and vandalism in Delta. Both involved my personal vehicle which was parked on the street outside of Delta's movie theatre. | | The best parts of town are in the middle of town and to the east side of town. Anything South of the Railroad tracks is the worse part of town. There are a few nice developments in the South side of Delta, but for the most part, that is definitely the bad side of town. A diverse population lives in Delta. There are many people of Spanish origin that live there, and many Caucasian people. Delta is mostly full of middle-class, and working-class people. There are some new homes, but many homes in Delta are not especially new or old. | | People in Delta are friendly, for the most part. Most businesses there have nice employees that practice great customer service skills, but some of the fast food restaurants don't practice great customer service. The big chains are lacking. |
Downtown Area | | Restaurants | | Schools | | Single life |
Delta has a very nice downtown shopping area. I frequent "Tara's" when I'm there, as it is my favorite female clothing store. They also have a little everything store called "Clubbs" that is fantastic. | | My favorite restaurant in Delta, hands down, is "Davetos". It is a family owned Italian restaurant. "Fiesta Vallarta" is also an amazing restaurant in town, as is "Starvin Arvin's". | | The quality of the public schools has been debatable. Some swear by Delta High School, and others are disappointed with their experience, but in my personal experience, I have seen DHS to be a decent school. The Elementary and Middle Schools are more highly thought of than the High School. | | There are a few singles hangouts in town, but there are more in neighboring, larger towns, namely Montrose and Grand Junction. "Wanda's Bar" seems to be the best place for singles in town over 21. There are also nice restaurants in town, though, and the drive-in, which is unique to only a few places in Colorado now, is a great singles hangout. |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
There is a train that runs the length of Delta, and through the middle as well. It runs three or more times a day, and loudly blows its horn! Besides the train, though, there are no unusual noises in town. | | I believe that between Delta, Olathe, and Montrose, Delta is the best of the three neighboring towns. It is smaller than Montrose, but larger than Olathe, and has a lower rate of crime than either of the others. It is also a prettier town than either of the others. | | Delta is host to the Delta County Memorial Hospital, but residents do not have a high opinion of it. The best hospital around that area is St. Mary's Hospital, in Grand Junction, CO. | | The nicest places to visit in Delta are the parks, one of the favorites being "Confluence Park", on the Northwest side of town. If anyone is lucky enough to be in town during the local celebration of "Deltarado Days", downtown is the place to be! There are street dances and sidewalk shopping going on almost every day of the celebration. |
General comments | | | | | | |
The town itself is beautiful, and has a small town feel. It is green for 8 or 9 months a year, and has many accomodations for travellers, etc. Delta has a good, clean feel about it. | | | | | | |
