Summers are hot and humid. Winters are mild and humid. El Dorado can have heavy rains and low areas can flood. Most crime is drug related. There some convenience store robberies and home burglaries. The best neighborhoods are to the west of town, west of Timberlane Drive. El Dorado is growing to the west. There are many nice ares not far from the square. Some of the worst neighborhoods are in east El Dorado, off Hillsboro Street. The people are friendly, its easy to make new friends.

The area around the square is very good. there are several restaurants, shops and banks. the Rialto theater is an art deco era theater which still is in business. The Townhouse features home cooking, its lunch buffet is great.
Minute Man features fresh hamburgers, cooked to order, no fast food.
The notable thing about the El Dorado schools is the "El Dorado Promise", funded by Murphy Oil Company.Any Student who graduates from El Dorado High School will have his college tuition and fees paid by Murphy Oil.There are a number of clubs.
town comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractionsGeneral comments
El Dorado is larger than Magnolia and Camden. It is less "churchy" than Magnolia. El Dorado has a much better atmosphere than Camden. There are more activities. El Dorado permits liquor sales unlike Magnolia. The Medical Center of South Arkansas is considered the best hospital in South Arkansas.Moro Bay State Park is a good place to visit.El Dorado is a good town. It needs more jobs. There are things to do and places to eat. Overall El Dorado is a good place to live.
