| The weather mirrors Chicago's weather, as Evanston is the next suburb north, and also borders the lakefront. Winters are fairly mild with temperatures that stay around freezing most of the time. Snowfall is not excessive, though it can be a victim of lake effect snow. | | In parts of Evanston, there is gang activity,some of which spills over from Chicago, just across Howard St. The Evanston police do work with the Chicago police and together they keep the violent crime to about the national average.
