There have been cases of car theft as well. The teenagers might try to have some fun and vandalize something though.
Fair Lawn is located next to Patterson, which is known in the area for having a lot of crime. It is not advised to travel too far into that town. | | The nicer part of time is south of Fair Lawn Avenue. North of Fair Lawn Avenue is a little bit more run down, and more working class people live there. The area around Fair Lawn Avenue and Saddle River Road is where there are things to do, like the deli, coffee shops and a few nice bars.
The town is almost entirely white, people with russian backgrounds or russian immigrants.
It's a small New Jersey suburb, so there isn't much nightlife or anything of that nature. | | The town is mostly populated by middle to upper middle class people. Lots of professionals and white collar workers. People with families would fit best in this town. It's exactly the kind of town young parents would like to move to and raise a family. It's not really a place for young, single people since there aren't the same fun things to do that a bigger city would have. Hippies and Hipsters would not fit in well here. |
Downtown Area | | Restaurants | | Schools | | Single life |
There isn't much of a "downtown" area. Most people visit the city for night life.
There is a wonderful mall though, The Garden State Mall, about 10 minutes up the highway. | | The best restaurant is The Dutch House. | | The public schools are very good. | | There are a few bars and places to meet. |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
There are no unusual noise sources, unless you live close to the highway. | | Fair Lawn is better to live in than Teaneck or Englewood primarily because of the train system. It is so much easier to commute to New York City with the train than by having to rely on the bussing system. Additionally, there is less crime in Fair Lawn than Teaneck, and housing prices are better than in Englewood. Also, Fair Lawn was recently voted the best town to live in all of New Jersey according to real estate magazine. | | Valley Hospital is the closest hospital, and it is very well respected in the area. | | The nicest places to visit around the town are The Garden State Mall and New YorK City |
General comments | | | | | | |
This town feels like a small, quiet New Jersey suburban town. It's the kind of place you want to raise a family in. There are elementary schools and parks, and neighborhood bars. It's the kind of place where people go the town hall meetings, and the policemen know who you are because they are your friends. People volunteer for the fire department and ambulance corp, and it's the small friendly town that people dream about living in. | | | | | | |
