Cory reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
The weather in Farmington Hills, MI varies by the season. This town has cold winters ranging for 10-30 degrees. You will also see the temperature reach below zero a few times every winter if you factor in the windchill. The summer months are very nice if you like it warm. The temperature throughout summer ranges for 65-80 degrees. You will see the higher temperatures during July and August. Sometimes you will even see 90 degrees during late July. The get rain during the spring and summer. The most of the rain is accumulated throughout the spring months though. The temperature during fall is normally right around 45-60 degrees.Farmington Hills has many types of crimes. The most common crime that occurs here is burglaries. They also have many assault cases that have been reported as well as auto thefts. I have only heard of one murder case in this town so its pretty unlikely to hear about those types of cases. You will hear about a rape case a few times a year as well. Farmington Hills also has a lot of smaller crimes such as dunk driving and driving without a license. These happen weekly in this town.Farmington Hills has many good areas to be in. I would recommend that if possible you stay away from the Kendallwood Apartments as i have heard that it can be quite noisy at times. I would recommend living on or near Kimberly Court. This is a very nice area and most of the homes are only a year or two old. The yards are a bit small but the houses are big. These are newer homes so keep in mind that they will be very energy efficient and have very nice features. Prices range in this area a lot by what you want in your home. Some of the homes can be nearly $400,000. Another area that is a bit more affordable is the Orchard Lake Road area. The homes in this neighborhood are older and may need a few updates but you can not beat the prices. Some of the homes in this neighborhood go for as low as $60,000. You will also get a larger yard in this area of town. There are many types of races that live in Farmington Hills. The majority of the town is made up of the white race. The second most common race you will see is the black race. This town seems to be getting more blacks every year but still not enough that to equal out to the whites. Occasionally you will see an Asian or a Hispanic as well but they are far and few between. The best type to fit in this town would be the middle class. Also blacks and whites fit in better being that the majority of the population is one or the other. There are few lower class families here as well. Most of the residents are very welcoming to all types of people. I would just really get the feel of someone in the town before you just invite them over or become friends.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown area in Farmington Hills is great. They have many small shops to visit and the landscape is always nice looking. The workers always seem to be welcoming their guests and they are very friendly.I would recommend the Grand Tavern. They have great burgers. The burgers are big and very tasty. The prices are cheap and the service is fast. Another great place to try is the Hong Hua restaurant. They have great Chinese food if you like Chinese. The public schools in Farmington Hills are average. The teachers are always friendly though. They try their best to help children if they need one on one help. The sports program seems to be growing every year and is about average for the area. The nightlife in Farmington Hills is about the same as many nearby towns. They do have quite a few bars and clubs so this help for singles to meet new people. You may be able to find your true love at a local bar if you are into that type of atmosphere.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
There are no noises that you can not tolerate. You will have your everyday traffic and you may here some planes that fly over going to the airport not far from Farmington Hills.I would compare Farmington Hills to Novi, MI. They are a very close to each other. The commute from Farmington Hills to Novi is about 8-12 minutes. Farmington Hills is on the outskirts of Novi. Both of these towns have a lot to offer. They both have plenty of shopping for everyday living. I like that Farmington Hills seems to be a little more smooth flowing pace as to where Novi seems to be a little more pushy at times. I would want to live in Farmington Hills because the cost of living is a lot cheaper and the residents always seem to not bother you. The price difference for what you can get in a home is a big difference as well. Farmington Hills have cheaper homes with much bigger yards. Overall you just get a lot more bang for your buck in Farmington Hills. The Botsford hospital is the name of the local hospital. This a great facility. The staff seem to always try to keep their patients thinking positive.I would suggest that you visit the Detroit zoo. Detroit is about 20-25 minutes from Farmington Hills. The zoo has a lot to see. This is great for a small family adventure. You can be sure your kids will love all the animals.
General comments
This town seems to be a smooth flowing town. Everyone really keeps to themselves but also can be very friendly. I like that most of the town minds their own business. You do not have to feel like someone is always looking at you wondering what you are up to. I would say they keep the town pretty clean. The landscape seems to be nice as well. Farmington Hills seems to be a very welcoming town to their everyday residents as well as their guests.
