Chase reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
It's usually very hot in Florence. Summer days hover around 90, with a lot of dryness and humidity every now and then. When is does rain, it usually pours.

The winters do not get very cold. The temperature stays around the 40s to 50s. It rarely snows, and when it does, it's usually just an inch or so.
I would say the crime is average. There are some crimes, such as theft, that happen on the bad parts of town, but overall, the city is pretty safe. The best parts of town are on the outskirts in neighborhoods or gated communities. The bad parts of town are near South Irby Street, where there are a lot more rundown neighborhoods and houses. The majority of Florence residents are African American along with Caucasian. The people are fairly friendly. Most will talk with you and most restaurants and stores have very good manners. The ethnic mix is not very big in Florence.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown/shopping area is decent. There is a good sized mall and some nice restaurants. It's nothing special, but it's not rundown. The best restaurants are Olive Garden, Outback, Redbone Alley, and Longhorn Steakhouse. The public school system is average in this town. There is one main option for students to attend. There is nothing special about the quality, but it also isn't very bad. There are some opportunities for singles. There is one university and a couple of community colleges around that host events, such as dances. They are great places to meet new people.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
There is a major highway that runs through the center of town near the mall and restaurants. There is also a small airport on the outskirts. They do not produce much noise and disturbances, though.Florence is close to Bennettsville, SC and Manning, SC. Compared to those two, it is the much better place to visit and reside. The other two cities are very small and do not have many attractions at all.The best hospital is McLeod. It is the largest and there is a great medical team there. The nicest place to visit is probably the mall or the performing arts center. There are many good concerts and plays that take place there.
General comments
The town feels like a cross between a large urban area and a country town. There are parts of the city that have fields and are out by themselves, but there are also restaurants and a mall.
