The summers can be very hot for some, but mild compared to other places in Texas. Winters tend to be short, fairly mild. Spring and Autumn are usually the best seasons, but since north Texas is at the end of Tornado Alley there can be tornado watches/warnings, and occasionally tornados touch down in this part of the US. | | Fort Worth is a fairly big city. I have heard of car break-ins, home robbery, people being held up with a gun , etc. There are good and bad parts of town just like any city in America, and most people who live in Fort Worth would there is more good than bad. | | The east side of Fort Worth tends to be the worst part of town. Lancaster and Berry are two streets that can be kind of shady, but Berry street is slowly getting better due to the gentrification efforts of TCU. Morningside is another neighborhood/school that serves a lower socioeconomic background, but in a rough neighborhood. The western side of TCU is full of very nice, picturesque homes. The neighborhoods off of Hulen, the Country Day area, and the University avenue area are all wealthy areas around Fort Worth. The downtown Fort Worth area has trendy lofts and apartments for young professionals and a few families. | | There are a lot of students and academics because of TCU. There is a good mix of young and old. More and more young people seem to be moving to Fort Worth. All ethnicities, but the majority seems to be caucasian. There are also a lot of ranching/cowboy types because of the surrounding farm and cattle lands outside of Fort Worth. Historically Fort Worth is a cattle town, and "Cow Town" is one of its nicknames. |
Downtown Area | | Restaurants | | Schools | | Single life |
Downtown Fort Worth has been continuously revitalized over the last 30 years. The Bass brothers and other investors have really turned it into a beautiful area for shopping, dining, and entertainment. It is especially beautiful at Christmastime. | | Texas de Brasil, Bonnell's, Magnolia Cafe, | | There are many quality schools in Fort Worth. I have driven by many schools that have state of Texas education awards. | | Yes! Many young people have moved to Fort Worth for jobs, and there are lots of bars and clubs catering to singles of any age. |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
I-35 can be noisy, and the airport can as well, but for the most part I have never noticed any unbearable noises in the city of Fort Worth | | Fort Worth is an infinitely better place to live than Dallas, Texas. Dallas traffic and people tend to be awful in my experience. Fort Worth is a slower place, but still has a fun, city vibe. There can be traffic and Fort Worth, but once you live there, you learn ways to get around it. In Dallas, even the toll roads get backed up, and sometimes at a complete standstill. | | Cook's Children's Hospital is one of the best children's hospitals in the state. The Harris Group of hospitals is also very good, and I personally know people who have had had life saving procedures done at both hospitals.
| | Downtown Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Stockyards (rodeo, clubs, restaurants, bars), Bass Hall, Hulen area for shopping, Magnolia Avenue for one of of a kind places. Museum district for the Amon Carter and other museums. |
General comments | | | | | | |
It feels like a city trying to be a small town. There are lots of local places where everyone from all walks of life can go to, so there is a sense of equality in that way. Rich and poor end up at a lot of the same places. There are lots of churches, new and historic in the Fort Worth area, so there are lots of opportunities for those less fortunate to receive aid so I would say Fort Worth has a benevolent spirit. | | | | | | |
