Freeport is a waterfront community. The weather in New York is very similar to that of contiguous areas. Winters feature decent snowfall and the summers are hot and humid. Autumn is the nicest season in the area. Spring is mild, damp and grey. | | The most recent crime to emerge in Freeport was that of an arson. A fire was started intentionally in an apartment building. Freeport has a decent rate of crime as a whole. | | South Freeport is a beautiful portion of town. Freeport's downtown is located on Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road. The area does not have the best reputation but nonetheless sports a wide variety of amenities. Main Street is another bustling area, but has an even worse reputation. | | The best restaurant in Freeport is Rachel's Waterside Grill. The best plate of pasta I ever had, I enjoyed at this fine waterside restaurant. Get the seafood pasta if you go, it is the best meal you will ever have. | | Freeport Public Schools have a dismal reputation. However, they have an excellent football program. | | Freeport is a great place for singles because there is much to do there. Sunrise Road and Merrick Road are great places to start, you can also venture down south to the Nautical Mile which peaks in summer months. |

The Meadowbrook Parkway runs along Freeport's east perimeter. However it is a quiet road that is not traveled by many. Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road also run through Freeport and can be a source of noise and congestion. | | Freeport is a "no man's land" when it comes to hospital. The closest hospital is South Nassau Community Hospital in Oceanside. SNCH is an excellent facility. | | The Nautical Mile is the nicest place in Freeport. During the summer, festivals and celebrations are had every weekend. The place is mobbed with guests frequenting the bars up and down the mile strip. Plus the setting is very beautiful with the Great South Bay pitched back. | | Freeport is a busy community with a large population. Depending on which section of town you venture too, you will get a different feel. South Freeport is a very quaint and romantic setting. While North Freeport, is heavily industrial and has a more rugged feel. |
