Weather | | How much crime? | | What are the neighborhoods like? | | What are the people like? |
Gorham is just like any other town. It rains but not too heavily. In the summer time its pretty hot outside. You have to go to the river to cool off if you want any comfort at all. For Gorham if you really want to get out and about you have to have an automobile no matter which way you look at it. In the Winter time it can be pretty harsh. I remember the ice storm of 1998. That was pretty horrible. There was nothing but ice all over the roads, trees and one of the trailers we had in the trailer park collapsed. | | Not too much really goes on in Gorham. Maybe someone robbing a store to get money and cigarettes but that's all. Sometimes they only get away with twenty dollars in cash. The cops really aren't really worried about heavy security, the lowest Crime rate I would have to say would be Gorham when I really think about it. Not too much has gone on there. You can walk down the road in the middle of the night and no one really would bother you. I like places like that, not too highly populated and no one really comes looking for trouble. | | A rough neighborhood I would have to say is Narragansett St. Not much but neighbors fighting with each other. The cops show up once in a while and break it up but nothing really comes of it. Neighbors hollering and yelling because they've had too much to drink or someone gets mad and slashes someone else's tires in the trailer park. To me that's really not high rated crime. It could be dangerous if someone came out with a gun, but none of that has ever happened. I think the most dangerous thing is making a club with spikes to keep the wolves out of the trailer park one year while it was winter. They were looking for food. That was the only way we could think to protect ourselves. | | There are a lot of white people. I don't see too many black or somilian people there. So it would be weird seeing them living in Gorham all of a sudden. It would be over populated if they ended up showing up. I think that there would be a lot of changes and the towns people who've lived there for years would have a hard time dealing with it. They would take matters into their own hands and take their town back. |
Downtown Area | | Restaurants | | Schools | | Single life |
Not nice at all. The only shopping you have there is to rent movies, go food shopping and little convient stores. Cumberland Farms and Seven Eleven | | There is no high qualified restaurants. The only restaurants is Amato's and Burger King. Not really all that interesting let me tell you.
| | Public school is good in Gorham my nephew has gone to little falls school there. No one had any complaints about the educational aspect of it. My nephew had a fun time and the kids he hung out with were good. His teachers were friendly, they would talk if we bumped into them at Hannaford | | If you are in college and are single then there are plenty of times to meet single people other than that, you would really have to look. |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
There is no unusual noise which is kind of scary. If you live out in the sticks there is hardly any noise. Not much traffic on Narragansett St. It's just a strip to get through Gorham and into Buxton. | | Buxton and Standish. Standish has more shopping places than Gorham has. The cost is probably higher than Gorham only because there are more things to do and more jobs in the Buxton/Standish area. There are some nice houses that I've passed by that look really great, the foundation being strong. Gorham doesn't have much for shopping except for maybe Goodwill and Hannaford. | | Closest Hospital would be Quick Care. And they are pretty quick just like the hospital name. I have taken my son there once for an inured knee he was in and out of there in an hour. Quicker than most places and they ask the patient not the parent what happened. Which I think is a good thing, considering if they are old enough to say what happened. | | The woods, where it's quiet. There was a field across from where I lived where the trailer park kids would get together with adults and they would either play baseball or soccer in the summer time. So that's a nice place to visit if you just want to sit and watch a game or two. |

My impression of Gorham? It's quiet and boring. That's why I moved. Not that I don't like quiet because I do, but just nothing to really do. It's more of a college town and if you have no ride it can get pretty boring at times. No one to really talk to unless you're talking on the phone. I think that I enjoy the city life more than I do living out in the sticks and no one really being around to talk with and hang out with. | | | | | | |
