Two of the most common crimes that you will see in this town are thefts and burglaries. As far as I know there has never been a murder reported in this town and only a few rapes have been reported in the past few years. Some of the minor crimes that you will come across are traffic violations, domestic issues and occasionally a vandalism will take place in this town. However, for the most part the crime rate is pretty low. | | There are some very pretty modern houses on Ivy Lane and Bridge Road, many of these homes are less than five years old or have been updated and look sensational. There are older houses located on Spring and Lewis Street, this area of town is west of Barber Lake. Some people would say this is one of the bad areas of Hillsdale. There is a Municipal airport in Hillsdale, but I have never heard anyone complain about noise or other distracting problems in this town. | | Litchfield is a neighboring town to Hillsdale, these two towns are about 20 minutes from one another. Litchfield is much smaller than Hillsdale and doesn't have as much to offer in regard to entertainment, restaurants and shopping areas. Reading is another neighboring town to Hillsdale, these two towns are about 16 minutes from one another, Reading is also much smaller than Hillsdale. Matter of fact, it is also a little smaller than Litchfield, as well. General comments
The town is really clean, there are rolling hills throughout the area thus making the area look really pretty. For the most part, people are friendly and always willing to help a tourist in need or to loan a hand to other residents who are seeking some help. There are a couple of really nice lakes in this region of Michigan. Overall, I would certainly recommend this town to anyone looking for a place to call home, of course, the person would have to be okay with the snow and cold during the winter.
