IN the summer weather is hot and humid. In July and August highs are in the 90's. Winters are mild with lows usually in the 30's. There is some snow in winter. Tornadoes are fairly common in the area.Hope has a high crime rate. The most common crimes are burglaries and assaults.One of the good neighborhoods is around South Washington and South Hervey which is mostly white. A bad neighborhood is North Hervey which has a large Hispanic population.The people are friendly. There is a large black population about 43%. There are many Hispanics, about 20% of the population. The white population is about 33%. Many Hispanics have moved to Hope to work in the poultry industry.

The downtown area is in decline. there is average shopping in the Hope area.Big Jakes Barbecue is popular and has good food. Amigo Juan serves Mexican food.Most singles go to Texarkana for entertainment and dating.I 30 is nearby and can be noisy.

Former President Bill Clinton was born in Hope. The Hope Watermelon Festival is popular. Hope is famous for its watermelons.Hope is a small town, now mostly nonwhite. Hope is a decent town.
