Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Inglewood, California? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Inglewood?
Moe Mohamed reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
Inglewood is normally warm year around. During the summer you can expect a lot of sun and warm weather, with mild nights. You normally don't find a lot of rain to be in this area either and you can see people complain of droughts. During the winter you can expect it to be above average, as snowfall is extremely rare here and doesn't occur. Winters and Fall's are mild and are favorable. Wildfire's and mudslides are also areas of concern for extreme weather.Inglewood is definitely a tough area to live in. When you expect to move or visit this area be prepared to see area's that are stricken with gang violence and high crime. Many people have passed away here from violence from just minding their own business. A lot of gang initiation rituals here have a requirement of killing an innocent bystander, and there have been many stories of that exactly happening unfortunately in Inglewood. Murders, battery, and drug activity are the main points of crime here. With that being said, Inglewood does have a lot of areas that are nice and less of a danger to live in. Unfortunately the bad outweigh the good here. With a few diamonds in the rough to live in when it comes to Inglewood, there are one to three neighborhoods you can do exceptionally well in. One of the better places to live in Inglewood is Morningside Park. Morningside was built by a very successful investing group. They have a lot of great facilities, and the houses are gated pretty well. Professionals that live here are at the top of the food chain and are usually investors or researchers. The area is filled with lavish households with nice Victorian style setups. The best thing about this neighborhood is that it's got one of the best views in the area, as you can see the city from afar. Any area that borders the south Central area is not where you want to be. The SC/Compton area is where you will find a lot of your gunshot victims and gang activity. Predominately based with an African American community. The houses here are old and not as modern as the other houses closer to the Hollywood area. The people here are a little nicer than those of Compton, but it's still an area that you wouldn't want to be near. The people of Inglewood are nice people. However the area has been heavily influenced by the bordering cities that have some of the highest crime rates in the state of California. There is a fair mix of individuals that will be nice and there are a mix that will eat you out if you give them the wrong look. This area is mostly filled with individuals who haven't left for years and are just hanging around. This is not an area that is normally the best for a young student, or a professional looking for a place to live unfortunately.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
Downtown is nice and one of the few bright spots of the area. The downtown district is getting a makeover for the flow of more people. The city has placed some cool stores and restaurants/bars for people to visit.Randy's doughnuts is a popular place to eat, as it's been aired on multiple tv shows. It's also said to be the inspiration for the doughnut shop in the Simpsons. The doughnuts are pretty good but pricey. The serving spoon is also a good place to get some food. The schools are overpopulated, and don't offer the quality education would expect from a normal school.A lot of famous people are from Inglewood, and with that the people have given back to the community by opening businesses. Clubs and bars are more often seen in the Inglewood area, and present's a great opportunity to meet singles.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
Gang activity paired with gunshot's present an uneasy feel and source of noise. Planes usually fly over this area to arrive to LAX.Westchester is one area that surrounds the Inglewood area. Westchester houses a lot of Hispanic and Latin gangs that have caused a lot of ruckus. Lincoln Blvd is known to be a heavy trafficking area for cocaine and other experimental drugs. The people here are less educated then those of Inglewood and the shopping opportunities are limited. The stores here however are cheaper than most high-end fancy stores. Hawthorne is another city that is just South of Inglewood. This area is not that much better, but the gang activity is a little less then what you would expect of a south Los Angeles town. The homes are a bit nicer here, and the cost of living is not as absurd collectively. I give the nod to Hawthorne just off safety and living.Centinela Hospital is the local hospital and carries a lot of weight in service since people have extreme injuries from violence. Good place to visit because the doctor's here are great.Lennox and Edward Vincent Junior park are cool places to visit as they border the cemetery. Hollywood area arts is also a place to visit as they offer opportunities for individuals to take part in Hollywood stunts. Los Angeles is also to the west and you can't beat living next to one of the coolest cities in the world.
General comments
You get into the area and you enjoy the weather and the close proximity to the bigger cities (LA/Hollywood). However once you get a real feel for what is really going on in this city it really depresses you. Gunshot's can be heard in the southern half of the city and you get a real uneasy feeling. It's amazing how your views on a place can change in a matter of seconds when you drive around. Inglewood has the potential to be a great city to live in, unfortunately it again has been mugged with an absurd amount of crime.
