La Quinta is a desert community in So. Cal., therefore the summers are especially hot - over 100 degrees for at least 3 months. The falls and winters are a favorite place for 'snowbirds' as the climate is cool 70's during the day and 50's at night. There is an occasional chance of flooding if there happens to be a downpour, which is rare. | | The crime in La Quinta is minimal, occasionally a home robbery, as the residents are upper middle class mostly retired so the homes are alarmed. The crime at businesses is very low. | | La Quinta is one of the more exclusive high end cities in the lower desert area thus the theme name - The Gem of the Desert. The residents are 75% from colder climates and stay during the fall thru spring times. It is hard to find any area within the city limits that is bad. | | The people are very friendly. Mostly Caucasian with perhaps 10% Latino. There are many golf courses, restaurants and shops so it is very easy to run into a neighbor. The shop-keeps are courteous and remember your name! |
Downtown Area | | Restaurants | | Schools | | Single life |
The Old La Quinta, the downtown area is fantastic. Small and quaint, outdoor walkways connect small friendly stores, wine tasting, farmers market and art shows. | | There is an abundance of great restaurants. A few of the best are Morton's Steakhouse, Arnold Palmers and The Hogs Breath. | | The public schools are rated very high. Since this area is mostly non-permanent residences, the school population is small. The community college has great courses and sports. | | More opportunity's for singles in adjacent Palm Springs. La Quinta is more family and retirees - unless you are a single over 60! |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
La Quinta is a quiet as a 'church mouse'. No highway noise, airplanes or trucks. | | Palm Springs and Palm Desert are neighbors to La Quinta and boast the same atmosphere. Many great restaurants, same climate, perhaps a few more permanent residences. There is shopping, movies and site seeing to the top of the local mountains. | | Eisenhower Hospital is the best in the region. It has recently been updated and has the Betty Ford Treatment center as well as one of the best cardiac units in So. Cal. | | Some of the nicest places to visit are the amazing golf courses, the downtown area, and restaurants. It also has a recreation center that offers fitness classes and musical theater. |

This town is so wonderful. A friendly game of golf can be the start of your day, lunch at one of the many restaurants and cocktails by the pool to end the day. | | | | | | |
