Latia Black reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
Lancaster has hot and humid summers, cold winters, and mild but short fall and springs. In the summer it can get as hot as 90'to 95' during the day. At last it cools off a little but not too much. There are thunderstorms that produce strong lightning and heavy, brief rain down pours. The Winters are cold with the daytime temp of about 30' to 40'. Lancaster does occassionally experience winters that are mild, with temperatures of about 50' to 55' in the day. Spring and Falls are very nice but they come and go like the wind. There are several trees in Lancaster so hay fever can be an issue in fall and allergies in the spring so grab some antihistamines. The crime in Lancaster is not that bad but
there are some reports of auto theft, robberies, buglaries, and assault. Even though the town is small it is not a town to play with. If the law officers are looking for someone responsible for a crime, the locals in this town are sure to turn you in if they catch one glimpse of you. A criminals best bet is not to commit crime in this town.
The best side of town in the northern side of Lancaster near Lake Culp. The neighborhood near this lake is very nice. The homes at N. Corner Estates are larger and you will find a few homes with private swimming pools in this area. Majority of the homes in this area have an ache or more of land around them. Lancaster's more privileged individuals live in this area.
The worst side of town is a little further southeast along Pardue Street where the homes smaller and are within walking distance to low income or government subsidized apartments. The individuals which occupy the apartments are under privilege.
The people of Lancaster are nice and friendly for the most part. Some individuals are slightly opinionated and live their lives on a "straight and narrow" belief. There are a plenty of conservative, church goers in Lancaster ready to share their views on life. This town has more blue collar workers than white collar workers. Most if the people here are conservative, church goers. The town is majority Caucasian and African American with a few Hispanic and even less Asian.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown area is really nice and it has an historic look. It is well kept and cleanThe best restaurants are Jo Mars Family Restaurant, Japan Restaurant, and Fox's Pizza Den.The schools are good in Lancaster but some residents feel it could use some leadership improvement. The two high schools in this town have about the same graduation rate which is pretty average for the state.Singles will have a little opportunity to meet someone here but their chances are much better in Charlotte, NC or Rock Hill, SC
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
There are 3 highways that run through Lancaster. The highways connect Lancaster to Charlotte, Monroe to Lancaster, and Lancaster to Rock Hill.Lancaster is smaller than Rock Hill, SC but it still has a plenty of restaurants to choose from and a nice historic downtown area to admire.
Lancaster is larger than Indian Land, SC but many residents in this area feel the schools are better in Indian Land than in Lancaster, SC.
The local hospital is Springs Memorial Hospital and it has a great physical therapy clinic. The nicest place to visit is the downtown area or a drive by Culp Lake near N.Corner Estates.
General comments
This is a mildly busy little town. It gives you a little bit of country town mixed with small city. There are 3 highways which run through Lancaster and as a result it sees several type of people which stop through on a daily basis. When all if the busy traffic of the day dies down, it is a quiet little town. On Sunday the streets are very quiet and you can enjoy a little "traffic free" drive around.
