WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
The summer weather is usually very hot and humid. Upper 80s, lower 90s on most days. There are long periods of drought and then days of rain. It's very intermittent.

In the winter, it usually stays pretty warm. The average is probably somewhere around the 40s and 50s until late January/early February. In those months, we see a couple of snow showers.
There isn't much crime around here. The only one I can think of happened a few years ago when there was a drive-by shooting in a shopping center parking lot.The worst part of town is East Laurinburg. That is where the drive-by shooting occurred. The majority of residents there are African American and Hispanic. The good parts of town are more in the suburbs, just outside of the city limits. That is also where the best houses are. One of the nicest and most expensive neighborhoods is Scotch Meadows. Most people are very friendly. The majority of the population is Caucasian, African American, and Hispanic. It is very easy to meet nice people almost anywhere in town.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown area is rundown. There a several pawn shops, some lottery machines, and a couple of food places. The shopping is decent for such a small town. Stores include Belk, Goody's, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, and Hibbett Sports. The best restaurants are Greek Village and Jin-Jin's Chinese food. There aren't many options to choose from other than fast food. The public school system is decent. There is only one public high school, and they're usually very good in baseball and football. They also have a high graduation rate. Many students enjoy the school. It is probably not a good opportunity for singles. There aren't many people who live in Laurinburg, and there are never any gatherings that focus on meeting new people.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
The only highways are located almost in the center of the city, away from most residential areas. There is usually no disturbance from highways or planes. It is better than other cities in the area. McColl, which is just across the border (a five minute drive) is very run-down. Most people come from McColl to do shopping and errands in Laurinburg. An even smaller town, Wagram, has nothing but churches, gas stations, and closed buildings. The nicest and closest town is Aberdeen (about a forty minute drive). There are a number of golf clubs and restaurants in that area. The best hospital in the region is Scotland Memorial Hospital. It's the closest one, with others being forty minutes away. It is a good size for the town, and there is also an Urgent Care Center. The nicest place to visit is the John Blue House. It's an old plantation house located near downtown. It hosts the annual John Blue Festival, where people set up tents and small attractions for people to enjoy.
General comments
The town feels like a really small, southern town. There aren't many places of employment except for a couple of plants. The taxes are one of the highest in the state of North Carolina. There are no attractions except for an old plantation house. Downtown has a few family-owned businesses, but most major retailers, such as Wal-Mart and Lowe's have taken over.
