WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
The weather in Lee's Summit has four distinct temperatures. The winters are cold and snowy, with average snowfall of five inches. The summers are hot and very humid. The spring months are nice, with temperatures mostly in the 70s. And the fall months are cool with a beautiful scenery of fall leaves changing colors. Lee's Summit is full of trees, the spring and fall months are the most scenic.Crime in Lee's Summit is almost non-existent. There is crime just like there is everywhere but violent crime is at a low rate, less than 50 murders annually. The most common forms of crime are the crimes against property - theft, robbery, and burglary. Many people have moved to Lee's Summit because of its low crime rate.South Lee is a suburban neighborhood where streets are lined with trees, spacious yards, and plenty of green grass. The area is mostly middle to upper class. Homes for rent will cost you about $800 per month and homes for sale will cost you about $150,000. Most of the homes are single and multi-family. Woods Chapel is one of the more popular neighborhoods in the city. It's a suburban neighborhood in close proximity to malls, shops, restaurants, schools and parks. There is a diverse culture living here.

The worst parts of town would be the old historic neighborhoods, called Old Lee's Summit. The only reason this would be considered the worse part of town is because of the underdeveloped area. The area is comprised of much older homes - older than 50 years - and there's not many attractions to see or do.

Lee's Summit is mostly White Americans but there is a growing number of Black and Asian residents living there. Most of the homes in Lee's Summit are less than 50 years old.
The residents of Lee's Summit are a mixture of upper and middle class white-collar   residents. There's about 70% White Americans and 25% Black Americans living in the area. There is a mixture of ages, with the average age of 50 years old. There is not much of a counter-culture, hippie, or alternative lifestyle culture in the city. The majority of people are educated with a college degree. In the downtown Lee's Summit area, there are more blue collar workers and older residents living in that part of town.

The shopping areas are plentiful with many retail shops and restaurants. One of the most popular restaurants in the Kansas City area that is located in Lee's Summit is Garozzo's Italian Restaurant. It has some delicious Italian food. Another popular restaurant is Jumpin Catfish which is a seafood restaurant with an all you can eat Crableg buffet. The Lee's Summit School District is among one of the best in the area. It's better than Blue Springs and second to Overland Park, KS. The graduation rate is at least 90%.The opportunity for singles is better than in surrounding cities like Blue Springs and Independence. Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
The only unusual noises would be located in the Old Lee's Summit neighborhood where there are railroads running through that area. Other than that there are no unusual noises.Compared to Overland Park, KS, Lee's Summit is cheaper to live. The houses in Overland Park will cost about 25% more than homes in Lee's Summit. This is probably due to the fact that Overland Park has more of an established community and is an older community than Lee's Summit is. Compared to Kansas City, Lee's Summit is much more livable. The neighborhoods are better, the school district is better, and the area is more friendlier.
One of the popular hospitals and largest employers in the area is the Lee's Summit Medical Center. It has a new complex center. The Historic 1880 Downtown District and the Historical Museum, both located in downtown Lee's Summit. The Powell Gardens, and Paradise Park which is a small amusement park for children along with an Edutainment Center.
General comments
The city feels like a cross between a big city and a small town. The neighborhoods provide a sense of comfort and safety along with a number of attractions and places to shop and eat. The area is conservative but not as conservative as Independence, Blue Springs - cities in close proximity to Lee's Summit. Lee's Summit is similar in feel and look to Overland Park, KS which is about 15 minutes away.
