This small coastal town has a classic mild pacific northwest climate, with cool, wet winters and warm and sunny summers. Winter temperatures average in the 40s and summer days are usually in the 70s and 80s.Lincoln City is a generally safe place, there is little crime and it is of a fairly minor level on the whole such as robberies, particularly from tourists' cars parked near the beach. There aren't really any bad areas in the town, but the priciest places have views of the ocean.People are generally very friendly, particularly out of the main tourist season. During summer there are so many out of town visitors that it's harder to find a friendly local person to chat with!
Downtown AreaRestaurantsNoisetown comparison vs.
Lincoln City isn't a shopping destination, unless you are shopping for icecreams.Though not strictly in Lincoln City, you should try to have breakfast at the Otis Cafe (a 15-minute drive north up the 101) as it is one of the greatest breakfasts around. The Pacific Coast Highway (101) goes right through the center of town, but it's not particularly noisy. This is among the most pleasant and welcoming of the towns on this coast. It has a great combination of beach and tourist amenities. It's prettier than Newport or Yachats.
Tourist attractionsGeneral comments
The beach is the major highlight of the town, and the place to while away hours of time beachcombing, walking, people-watching and dipping your toes in the water. The town is heavily geared towards tourists. The beachfront is lined with hotels and motels, and restaurants, icecream shops and cafes line the main promenade. It feels pleasant and low key. Most of the places to stay have great views across a wide and dramatic sweep of beach.
