Cory reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
The weather in Livonia, MI varies a lot by the month. The winter months seem to drag on and are very cold. The winter temperatures range for 20-30 degrees. It is possible to see some days get below zero degrees if you factor in the windchill. You will also see snow during the winter months which can make for some messy road conditions. The summer months are much nicer with temperatures ranging from 70-80 degrees. It is normally very humid and windy in July and temperatures may even reach 90 degrees toward the end of July. It can be quite windy in June as well. There are several types of crime that occur in Livonia. The most common crime is burglaries. These crimes happen daily. It is also very common to hear about auto thefts. There are also robberies and assault cases that occur in Livonia. It is not all that common but there has been two or three murder cases reported as I have also heard about a few rape cases over the past year. Livonia also has many other smaller crimes that occur such as drinking and driving and driving on a suspended licence as well as your normal traffic violations.Livonia, MI has many nice neighborhoods but the also have some areas that a bit more run down. If you are on a limitied budget i would recommend the Woodring Street area. The homes in this area are really old but you can get them at a good price. The homes in this area go from $65,000 up to $110,000. These homes may need some updating but the price tags are right for what they may need. If you have a bigger budget and can afford to spend i would recommend the Richfield Road area. The homes in this neighborhood are new construction homes. This neighborhood offers bigger lots and the houses have many nice features. The prices on these homes are anywhere from $175,000 up to $400,000. These homes are very energy efficient though. I would suggest you stay away from Franklin Square Apartments as i have heard it can be quite noisy around that area.Livonia is made up of many races. The majority of the town is white people. They also have many blacks in this town but not as many as the white race. Livonia has some Asians as well as Hispanics but not very many. Livonia is made up of mostly lower class and middle class people. There are some high class residents but not as many as the low class. If you are white you would fit in best in this community. I say that because that is the majority of the race in this town although a majority of the residents are very welcoming to any race. I would just really watch who you make as a friend in this town seeings how they are not all good people.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown area is beautiful with great landscape. They have many stores to shop at as well as a few coffee shops. The employees at most stores are very helpful and welcoming.I would suggest that you try Buddy's Pizza. The prices are good and the pizza is great. Another good place to try is Thai Basil Restaurant. This restaurant has excellent Thai food. Even if you do not like this type of food this is a must try place you will love it.The public schools in Livonia are great. The curriculum is average but the staff and teachers are excellent and they will go the extra mile to help a child out. The sports program in Livonia is a little better than average.Livonia has many opportunities for singles. They have many bars and pubs for meeting places. You could certainly find your match mate in this town.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
The town really does not have any unusual noise that you can not handle. They do have certain neighborhoods the get a little rowdy at times as well as some apartment complexes. Overall most of the town stays fairly quite.Livonia, MI is a nice town and they have a lot to offer. They have a fairly big population with a lot of shopping. Most residents are to be fairly respectable of others. Livonia seems to have some neighborhoods that are more relaxed than others. I would compare it to Farmington Hills. The drive time from one another is about 15 minutes. Farmington Hills also has many stores and plenty of stuff for your everyday needs. I would suggest Farmington Hills over Livonia just for the fact that in Farmington Hills the residents seem a lot nicer to me. I feel much more welcomed in Farmington Hills. It really depends on what type of living you like though. I like the fact that Farmington Hills has many nicer neighborhoods and you can get a lot of house for your money in this town.Livonia has many medical centers that you can be seen at but the main hospital is called the St. Mary Mercy Hospital. The staff in this hospital are all very friendly and the hospital has great care for their patients. The staff are always trying to keep the patients as positive as possible.I would recommend that you check out the Henry Ford Museum if you are in the area. This is located about 10 miles from Livonia. The museum is very neat for you and or spouse to check out or even your family. This museum has a ton of stuff to see.
General comments
I would say this town has a mixed feeling. Sometimes it is very peaceful in some areas of town. There are also many locations in Livonia that can be very rowdy where it seems that everyone is always in your business. The the town does seem to keep pretty clean and the landscape is also very nice. The town does plant flowers and shrubs along side roads downtown which to me makes it feel pretty and welcoming. Overall i like the feel of the town. The only downfall to me is that some people seem a little pushy and there are a few people that can be quite rude to others at times.
