Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Logan, Utah? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Logan?
Emily Walburger reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
Logan's weather is quite dry. Summers are warm, usually with highs comfortably in the 80's and low 90's, though occasionally it does stretch to 100. Days of gusty winds are common, with little rain. Winters are pretty darn cold, with a moderate amount of snowfall, around 2-3 feet per season. Negative temps are common, especially at night, with records in the -30's, so you're going to want to bundle up. This Cache Valley is also known for its air inversions in winter, which cause air pollution to become trapped within the valley, and creating air qualities of unhealthy levels.Logan tends to be a very safe place to live, but of course, there's crime everywhere. Theft and burglaries are common, with occasional robberies and break-ins. Graffiti occasionally pops up on abandoned buildings or areas. A strong police force makes its presence felt in the area, keeping infractions to a minimum. The nicest areas in Logan congregate near the mountainside, where beautiful homes are positioned near the canyons for a great view of the valley. These areas further east towards Foothill drive also boast Elementary schools.
Some of the poorer areas of Logan include some shoddy parts of downtown, as well as southwest where US-89 and US-91 enter the area. This southern tip consists of farmland and unoccupied areas.
People in Logan are friendly and welcoming, tending more towards a majority of families and married couples. There is also a strong young adult presence, especially with Logan State University in the city. There is a mix of old and young, and people have a clean-cut air about them for the most part. The overwhelming majority of people are white. With an estimated mere one percent being African-American, those of this descent may feel a bit out of the norm.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown area is well-maintained, with a good number of retail outlets and two malls. Patrons will find an adequate selection for their needs.Firehouse Pizzeria offers a great array of artisan pizzas and Italian entrees.
Logan's Heroes offers wonderful subs, sandwiches, and salads with a hometown feel.
Logan has good public schools, on average or better than US average. There is a very low drop out rate. There is an adequate singles scene in Logan. With Utah State University, as well as a great number of LDS individuals, there are quite a few singles events and opportunities that take place.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
Noise is not an overwhelming concern in Logan. There is some noise from the local university, as well as a nearby small airfield.Logan could be considered better to live in than neighboring Smithfield. Although there are fewer people in Smithfield, Logan has a greater number of shopping outlets and educational opportunities.
Logan could be considered superior to Salt Lake City due to a lower cost of living. There is less commuting and traffic in Logan than in SLC, and less crowded streets.
Logan Regional Medical Center provides acute and critical care services, with world-class service and care. There's always somewhere nice to visit in Logan. The farmer's market every weekend in the summer provides great produce. Outdoor hiking and biking are first class, and the Utah Opera and Theatre are exquisite.
General comments
Logan feels historical and interesting. It has a rich historical and cultural heritage, settled by Mormon pioneers trekking to the area. The streets are well-cared for, with numerous restored old buildings. It feels like a place you'd want to spend the day exploring and learning. It's a great place for children and families, and a safe place to call home. There's space to breathe and relax.
