Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Matamoras, Pennsylvania? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Matamoras?
Travis reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
Matamoras is closer to sea level than the surrounding towns of Port Jervis and Milford. It's the lowest part of the valley and therefore it is the most humid during the summers, and has the greatest chance of flooding. It hasn't badly flooded in the entire span of my life though, so don't worry. It's been many years.

There are several streets that will flood upon heavy rain, and this makes for poor driving and walking conditions, but the city is quick to clean it up when that happens.

The winters are cold, but not as cold as the surrounding mountains get, and even though it's next to the river it doesn't usually get too bitterly cold.
There isn't too much crime in Matamoras because most of the population is either younger kids or older adults. There aren't many opportunities for things to get stolen in Matamoras anyway, considering that the town itself doesn't have much in way of main shops to be stolen from.

If anything there are probably some street muggings, possibly, but it's doubtful and I've never heard anything about it.
The best part of town is probably down by the Polar Bear Ice Cream and Turkey Hill area on the main road, which is usually bustling during the spring, summer, and fall.

Another nice place is over at Airport Park (though I've no idea why it's called that as it's not an airport at all!) where there is a park for children and a bunch of field-space for adults to do what adults do.

As far as bad parts of town: If you're not a smoker, you probably don't want to live here. I mean many non-smokers live in Matamoras but the entire main street is cigarette stores (and fireworks stores!)

Also if you live in the state of PA you're not allowed to enter the fireworks stores even though they are in the state of PA.

It's mostly inhabited by WASPs and their kids/grandkids but there are other families in the town. It's not just one type of people.

The homes are very nice. Mostly all old victorian looking but some are better and some are worse and the main street's houses are mostly converted into apartments.
Being mostly WASPs and smokers, it's not a bad environment for anyone who wants to just go for a walk through a quiet neighborhood. There isn't much in the way of entertainment besides one bar at the far end of town and even those people won't bother people. There's probably the occasional bit of racism but otherwise there's nothing big that happens with people not being able to fit in. Even being right next to Port Jervis it's much more accepting than parts of Port Jervis are.

There is none unless you smoke. There's one bar, a Price Chopper, an ice-cream place, two diners, and a Turkey Hill.. and 13 smoke stores. And 2 fireworks stores. There's really nothing at all.

One consignment shop that's overpriced.
Matamoras has a couple restaurants, but the only one that sticks out in my mind is Stewarts Diner. That place is fantastic and definitely worth checking out if you like home-cooked food. It's delicious!Matamoras doesn't have its "own" school, but the high school; Delaware Valley High School has a great security system and a great theatre department. I'm not sure where the kids go to elementary or middle school, but D.V.H.S. is a very good school. Though Port Jervis High School has a bit more tolerance for LGBTQ youth. There seem to be a lot of singles, but no way for them to meet. This is due to the fact that there is really only one bar and it's a loud bar where people go with friends or co-workers, and not really a socializing bar. It's Also a restaurant. It has problems.

There aren't too many singles opportunities though.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
There is a highway nearby the Airport Park (route 84); but it's enough out of the way that it doesn't really disturb the sounds of the town at night. The only real disturbance is probably Port Jervis' train station but as I've said in the review of Port Jervis, it's not too loud and it's kind of soothing to listen to at night.Matamoras in comparison to Port Jervis, NY, Port Jervis is better. The only reason I say this is because even though Port Jervis has a worse population living in it, it is definitely a place with a city center and a place where people can see other people walking around. Matamoras has no sense of community or purpose to me.

Matamoras in comparison to Milford, PA, Milford is better. This is a town with a sense of community and an understanding of how to bring art, culture, good food, and great people into it. Milford (check out the review of that) is an epicenter for great entertainment and great food. There's a sense of a communit and it seems everyone knows each other even though it's a bigger town.
Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis is where "people go to die" according to the locals, but it's really nearby and it's worthwhile if there is an emergency. It's not a bad place to go to if you're in a pinch! The ice-cream shop and the Airport Park are really the only places worth checking out. Stewarts Dinr if you're hungry because that's great and cheap food!
General comments
It's a nice town, though there is no true sense of community. There is a main road but that main road has absolutely no community center and there really isn't much in way of entertainment. All the things to do are farther down the road in Westfall and that's much more of a shopping town than a residential town. It's a very odd layout.

Matamoras itself is a sleepy little town but since there is no sense of community it's not much in the way of good vibes, or bad.
