Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Medford, Massachusetts? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Medford?
Dijana Kadic reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
It is a New England town. One can expect very hot and humid summers with very little rainfall, and very cold and snowed in winters. Fall and Autumn are neutral months, with very nice temperatures and lots of beautiful colors to see. There is not much flooding here, though light flooding does happen occasionally. It is extremely rare for an earthquake or tornado to occur here, although weak hurricanes can happen occasionally also. The crime rate falls under the LOW crime category. There are not many reports on rape, murders, etc, but thefts were however the most frequent reporting, mainly auto-theft.There are no "bad" parts of town. Most of the town is the same, with middle class neighborhoods all throughout. Although once predominantly white, it has turned into a nice diverse community with many different cultures, races, and nationalities. The people are very friendly with it being such a diverse town, where people embrace all different cultures.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown/shopping are is extremely small. Its the square of the town, and is filled with restaurants and small shops. There are no major shopping areas in this town.Weather is is Asian or Italian, there are few choices to choose from. There is Salvatore's which is a very nice Italian restaurant. Also, there is great Thai food at Tom Yum Koong. The best part is that most of the restaurants are located right in the towns square. If you'd like to go on the other side of town there are also lots of options such as sushi and drinks at Mr.Yoki's Sushi Bar.The elementary and middle schools are all new, and have state of the art equipment to ensure a better learning experience. Although much older, the high school is also very good, with expanding renovations yearly. The teachers are involved with students and families, making it easier for parents who fear a bad education system. There is some opportunity for singles. There are a few bars one could go to meet other fellow singles. It is also located 3 miles from the center of Boston, making it very easy to commute and spend a night on the town.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
Being so close to the MBTA train stop, and the highway one would expect a lot of complaints about these disruptive noises, but there are seldom complaints of this.It is much better in comparison to the towns/cities in the surrounding areas. It is not as densely population such as its surrounding cities Sommerville, or Everett, which is great for residents looking for some space. It is also much more green, with lush forests and lakes, and rivers all over, something that most suburbs do not offer. There are two hospitals nearby if one needed urgent care. Massachusetts General Hospital which is one of the top in the country is located in Boston, only 3 miles from Medford, while there is also Lawrence Memorial Hospital which is located in the town itself. There are also various clinics one can choose from. The nicest places to visit is Medford Square because of it's rich history. From seeing where "Jingle Bells" was written to seeing Paul Revere's ride, one can be guaranteed a nice history adventure here.
General comments
It is a small New England town. Most people are generally happy, and friendly, which gives the whole town a much more welcoming feel.
