Being next to a river, it is much more humid in the summer than other places; but it never gets too hot temperature wise because Milford is at a higher sea level than most places.
It's between mountain ranges, so in the winter it's a bit risky to try and drive into the mountains, but there's a very good snow-plowing crew in the city that takes care of the highways. | | Once in a very blue moon there will be talk of a robbery from a store, or a hate crime against an LGBTQ person; but for the most part there is very little/no crime in Milford from what I've experienced and heard from others. It's a very safe place to be, even to walk around at night! | | There isn't really a "worst" part of town. There are definitely streets when you first enter Milford by the gas station and as you get going up the mountain that are much less lit than other streets, and you'll automatically feel less safe on them just because they're less lit.
The best part of town in my opinion is the main strip where you'll find the Milford Diner, a bunch of great antique stores, some amazing restaurants, and some pretty educated-looking people walking around you could spark up conversations with. There are different races in Milford but it is primarily white. | | All age brackets and cultures are welcome in Milford. As I said earlier there is the occasion where someone will be rude to someone based upon how they look or if they are LGBTQ; but the most popular restaurants in Milford are LGBTQ owned and friendly, and there are a lot of gay groups that work out of Milford for how Progressive it is. Completely different from the rest of the state.
It's very easy to be whoever you want in Milford without being judged too harshly. Even by the WASPiest of people. |

I love how cheap all of the antiques are! With really good quality items to boot! I have some beautiful paintings of ships none of which I paid over $20 for! There are more and less expensive antique shops in Milford, but for the most part they're much cheaper than other cities.
As far as eccentricity, there is a pottery forming studio where the guy makes pottery based upon his feelings and sells it, a Rite Aid, Art Galleries, a delicious Pizza Place, and other cute little odds and ends stores. | | The Hotel Fauch're and the Tom Quick Inn are always great places to eat. I really enjoy the Milford Diner's food, but there are much better places in Milford (such as Joey's Pizza being top notch pizza!) if you're willing to look! | | Delaware Valley High School has a few issues, such as its intolerance issues for the LGBTQ society (even though the city of Milford is so accepting, some of the students live in outlying smaller towns), and some power play issues; but overall every time I've gone to the school I've been impressed by its security measures and ease of ability to find one's way around the school by one's self if need be. | | Yes and No. There are no real night-spots for singles to hang out at, and most people who live in Milford are married or partnered; but there are a couple decent bars and on occasions there are even LGBTQ Singles Nights at these bars and a lot of people are said to come out to them. |

The occasional siren will blare its way through the city center; but besides that there aren't any unusual sounds that would cause people to not be able to sleep. At night time it's a quiet, peaceful place to be. | | Milford compared to Port Jervis, NY, is better than Port Jervis. My reasoning for this is (and feel free to see my review of Port Jervis) because Milford has a lighter feel and is more accepting of differences in others than Port Jervis. Whereas Port Jervis has more demographic variety, Milford is more accepting of people for who they are, even the LGBTQ society as a whole.
Milford compared to Matamoras, PA, is better than Matamoras. My reasoning for this is because Matamoras has no true city center where there could be a gathering of the masses. There is a main street but it's mostly cigarette stores and there isn't much in the way of togetherness for Matamoras. It's very disjointed feeling to me, whereas Milford is much more family oriented. | | I believe the closest one is Bon Secours Community Hospital over in Port Jervis, where "People go to die"; but I could be wrong. It's a decent hospital if you don't have much wrong with you; but if you go to the emergency room it's utter chaos. | | There's a HUGE barn that got refurbished into a bunch of different antique shops which is super cool and has some amazing finds within it! I also always recommend Joey's Pizza, the Waterwheel Caf', and surrounding stores by the Waterwheel because most people skip right over them and they are -amazing- shops. |

It always seems to be sunny there, even if it's raining. There's a light, upbeat, and energetic feel to the town even when it's gray outside. It's as if the entire town is smiling and there is something in the air saying that it'll be sunny again someday and until then just continue being happy because when you're in a city like Milford there is nothing to be sad about. | | | | | | |
