New Orleans is moderately warm all year round with the absence of seasons. Summers are absolutely unbearable with smoldering rays beating down all day & humidity that is inescapable.without any waters to cool off in it makes a lot if people go elsewhere for their summer vacations! The city is also known for its warm rains & tropical thunderstorms. Spring snd fall pass barely getting cool breezes and winters are warm & mild compared to other cities. It does get much cooler but rarely cold.Crime is terrible! It is one of the most dangerous cities in the u.s. With murders, rapes, robberies, auto theft, mass shootings, and drug related crimes skyrocketing daily. Unfortunately ,the main target is usually tourists.Nowhere is safe. The French Quarter likes to try to build a protective shield for tourism but unfortunately crime is still a serious problem. Everything past st. Claude is extremely dangerous and the further you go away from the city the worse it gets. This is a tough question-because it really is a toss up. You have the the friendly southern hospitality welcoming you at one end & the harsh cold of others pushing you away. A lot of people are not so happy that their city has a constant influx of tourism.

Downtown is full of shops catering to tourism, carnival, art, and music. As far as department stores, and malls, you normally have to travel to nearby cities. The city is known for its Cajun creole cooking & classic southern soul food. It's rare to find anything in between! But if that's what you're looking for..you have a whole city to choose from! The public schools have very poor education rates. The private schools are a much better option, but still not up to par.Honestly because if its "party scene" atmosphere" & flocks of people just traveling through-it's more of a "one night stand city" ha! So long term plans for new relationships are usually seldom here!
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
The ferry boats are constant & the calliopes can be heard throughout the city! There are vibrant sounds filling the air at all hours of the night! From marching bands, midnight parades, parties, live music, street musicians, ambulances, sirens, and the occasional hauntings,This is one of the loudest most vivacious cities I've ever encountered! It is very small town yet consistently changing with new faces! There are tourists arriving daily and always twice as many ready to entertain them! Not sureThe French Quarter is strikingly beautiful with a small quaint moonwalk following the Mississippi River. Several parks also surround the area.

It likes to rain the most in the 'J' months. June, July and January. It doesn't get too cold here either. But can get pretty hot and humid in the summers. When it does rain it it usually really humid outside and the rain doesn't cool you off, just makes you muggy, and sticky. The spring and fall are usually around 65-75 degrees which is perfect. Most people like to visit here during that time. I think everyone knows it can flood here or get a hurricane.
Burglary and assault are the biggest crimes here and it has increased. I do believe that our governments 'new changes' have played a vial role in this. People started losing their jobs and homes and crime has increased. I don't think New Orleans is the only place that has felt the effects of Obama.I would recommend the Uptown, Garden District, The Marginy and the French Quarter, Meterie, or Kenner. The houses are very nice and the people are too. Crime rate is down here, in these parts. The main population is of black decent, the next is white.
Stay far away from the projects & wards, like the 9th and 7th wards. Those are bad areas to be avoided.

The people are friendly and filled with traditional values. The bars never close, the music never stops, and the people never stop cooking or eating or planning on doing any of the above. If you like fast paced, busy, a city that hardly sleeps, you'd fit right in.

The downtown area is cool because it is all set up in districts. You have a medical district, will all things and people, medical. You have an arts district, all things art. You have the sports and entertainment district, or the business district, so its all pretty simple to figure out. What ever your fancy is, you can find it in its district.
7 on Fulton in the Arts district is super good, upscale, and delicious! There is also Atchafalaya in the Uptown Garden District that is just amazing if you want to try some real Cajun, or for more Cajun, Bon Ton in the Business District.
I can tell you that the schools take pride in what they do, both the students and the school faculty which makes a big difference in comparison to other schools. The center for creative arts is an amazing school, and so is Lake Forest Elementary and Ben Franklin High.

Oh yes, and more yes's. There are a lot of people here and that come here year round just to visit here. There is always something going on and many chances to meet new people and even possibly the one.

If your right in downtown New Orleans and you don't like noise, you should probably not be there. There are always people out and about, all hours of the day and night. Music is often played loudly and if your seeking a more quiet place, anywhere outside of the downtown area will suit you better.

There is Gretna, Arabi, Terrytown, Harvey and Westwego, just to name a few. They all have a lot of simularities as New Orleans as far as what is importaint to these people of Louisiana. A lot of the places have homes on the out-skirts of the areas that have been there for a very long time. Some will be abandoned, or taken over by homeless, or vacant, or still occupied by generations handed down through the years. The further from the city of New Orleans you go, the more you see what's really important to people, and its usually family, food, and music.
Ochsner Medical Center is the best hospital, hands down!
It depends on what you like really. They have some of the best restaurants in the US if you appriciate real southern food. They have an amazing art museum, and other museums if those are your thing. The bars never close so anytime of day if that's your thing, you'll never not find one open or around. There is the water front for those who love to go for walks, and music playing everywhere where folks are welcome to come on in and enjoy good times with others. It really depends on what a persons preference is, and rest assured, they will find many things to enjoy while they are there.

This town rocks. There is a bit of everything to do, and there is a lot to be learned about just living once you get out of the busy hustle and bustle downtown area. It has country, it has the city, it has families filled with tradition and recipes galore if you're lucky enough to get your hands on one.

Summer in New Orleans is long, hot and humid. It can get hot as early as late April and last until October. Winters can be mild but in 2014, we have had a very cold winter with multiple freezes. When it's cold here, it's VERY COLD because it's so damp. The crime situation here is improving but our criminals can be very violent indeed. The most violent crimes usually take place between gang member but it can spill into the community. Property crimes are on the decline but they still happen. My tip to readers is to be aware of your surroundings and alert. It is not as bad here as some would have you believe.New Orleans is an unusual city because bad and good areas are right next to one another. Among the good areas: the French Quarter, Marigny and Bywater in the downtown area. Uptown, it's hard to go wrong with the Garden District or Carrollton. The worst parts of town all have good areas nearby but they include Central City and Algiers. The people in New Orleans are VERY warm and friendly. It's a place where you say hello to everyone and know your neighbors. The city is about 60% African American 30% white and the rest a mixture of Hispanics, Asians and other ethnic groups

The French Quarter and Canal Street suffice as our shopping areas downtown. They have fairly nice specialty shops but the best NOLA shopping can be found father Uptown on Magazine Street. So many but some of the best include: Galatoire's, Clancy's, Domenica, Couchon, August, Emeril's and the Palace Cafe.Schools are better than they used to be but still sketchy except for the charters.New Orleans is an enlightened and progressive town by deep south standards. It is gay friendly, which places such as Baton Rouge and Mobile are not.

Touro Infirmary. It is located in the heart of Uptown New Orleans and is dedicated to local patients. We have gorgeous parks both Audubon and City Park are lovely and relaxing spots. The Audubon Zoo is a must visit as are the Cabildo and Prebytere museums in the Quarter. The World War II museum is must see for history buffs. It's a fun place to live and visit. We are world famous for our food and we have a growing number of ethnic eateries such as Vietnamese and Thai.
