Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Newport Beach, California? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Newport Beach?
tad brunton reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
Newport Beach has some of the nicest weather in the world. Summers are perfect, except for the June Gloom you get in May and June. All that means is there is a marine layer covering the area and the skies appear gray at that time. The weather is still warm during June gloom, however. It rains during the winter and once in a while in the springtime. Overall, Newport is one of the best places on Earth to live, as far as weather goes. No hurricanes, definitely no tornadoes and never any snow.Anybody who has lived in or visited newport Beach has a chance of getting something stolen. It happens in every tourist destination and so it happens there too. If you leave any valuables in your car and it can be seen through the window, just say good bye to it, because it will most likely be gone by the time you get back to your car from shopping. Burglaries and thefts account for most of the crime in this beach town. There aren't many murders, assaults or rapes. It's pretty much a safe place to live in, but there are a lot of visitors from other towns who are sometimes opportunists when they see something not chained down.Try to find a bad part of Newport Beach and it may take you a while. However, there are some places that you should use caution with when you're walking. The Newport Pier, for example could be considered an area where you might exercise alertness and be aware of your surroundings, especially at night. There are two piers that un out into the ocean in Newport: the Newport Pier and Balboa Pier. The Balboa Pier is pretty safe, as it is adjacent to hundreds of beach homes and there is only one way out of that area. The Balboa Pier is located toward the end of the Balboa Peninsula which dead-ends at the Pacific Ocean. The Newport Pier, on the other hand, is on the peninsula also, but there are several roads that will take you out of the area. This pier is in a business district which is basically bars and restaurants, so things can get kind of routy on the weekends. Since Newport Beach is one of the wealthiest cities in California, there are truly more great parts of this town than bad parts. The houses are expensive, compared to most other parts of the country, and the ocean views are magnificent. All types of people can be found in Newport Beach, but only those with a very high income can afford to live in this beautiful city. Although "The Housewives of Orange County" don't represent every type of person who lives in this beach community, their wealth represents a large proportion of those who do. There are famous people, very rich people, lawyers, business owners and real estate moguls, along with movie stars who live in Newport. all the others who can't afford to live there, can live in adjacent towns like Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Irvine and others.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
Newport Beach's Fashion Island is arguably the nicest shopping center in California. It has all the name stores and many extremely high-end brand named destinations. Plus, there are fine dining venues and several first class hotels on the property.Too many great restaurants to name them all. However, there are some that absolutely should be mentioned. The Crab Cooker is not a great restaurant, but it has been a fixture in Newport for decades. They have great food and they don't take reservations. They even turned down President Richard Nixon who apparently called them to reserve a table. The public schools are good because the people of Newport insist that they be good. After all, the children of wealthy and highly educated parents must be educated to a level that suits the parents. Besides, property values bring higher local taxes, which can higher the best teachers. There are romantic opportunities for singles as long as the single is a woman. Single men need money to compete with Maseratis and Porsches. Women only need good looks.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
The John Wayne Airport can be a little loud sometimes and if you live in the west side of Newport you may have a problem with it. Other than that, noise pollution is at a minimum.Newport Beach is not comparable to Costa Mesa or even Huntington Beach, which are right next to it. Newport, with its wealth and opulence, simply outdoes every other place, no matter where it is. Costa Mesa and Huntington are nice, no doubt, but they just don't have the thousands of boats, the luxury lifestyle and the fantastic views that Newport has. And they never will. The hospital that everyone associates with Newport Beach is Hoag Hospital. It is considered to be one o the best in the country and it is right on Newport Blvd. overlooking the Pacific Ocean. John Wayne stayed there.Newport Bay is the center piece of this great town. You'll be astounded at sunset when you sit on one of the bluffs overlooking the bay. Sunsets are better in Newport than anywhere in the country.
General comments
Newport Beach is truly one of the most beautiful cities in the country. The bay alone is worth a trip there. There are islands, like famous Balboa Island, that are tourist attractions all to themselves. Then you have the miles of fabulous beaches to lay out on and the great surfing and body surfing at the Wedge. If boating is what you like, there is no better place than Newport. Thousands of boats and yachts are docked there and Santa Catalina Island is only 26 miles away.
