Weather | | How much crime? | | What are the neighborhoods like? | | What are the people like? |
The weather is very cool in the winter, sometimes the nights get as cold as 28 degrees. The summer can get over 100 for many days in a row. Spring and fall are warm in the day and cool in the night - perfect. | | Norco has a very low crime rate. We, and a couple of neighbors, had our solar landscape lights stolen. We have very few sheriffs, we live on a corner street and hear quit a bit of speeding and see many 'rolling' stops at stop signs. | | Since Norco was a farming/livestock area 'back-in-the-day' there still are some ramshackle homes on the outskirts of town. They are mostly occupied by Hispanics. Many new homes were built in the last 8 years along our hillsides, with great views, horse trails and parks with arenas for riding. | | People in Norco are very friendly! It seems most animal lovers are good people. Mostly white/20%hispanic/10%african American. People ride their horses up to your front door or order fast food at the local restaurants. If someone is in trouble on their horse or on the trail, neighbors will come to the rescue. |
Downtown Area | | Restaurants | | Schools | | Single life |
Riverside is out closet downtown area. It is really nice with lots of antique stores, historic hotel and theater, coffee shops and night clubs. Galleria Tyler Mall has all the hip and current stores to shop for clothing, shoes, jewelry. | | Black Horse Tavern is the best. It has great food, great friendly bartenders, happy hour, the atmosphere is relaxing and you can always run into someone you know. | | I had a daughter that went to elementary thru high school here and they were great. Teachers were very hands-on and parents were very involved. | | Life for singles is great if they are horsey people. There are fun bars with western dancing, horse groups and rodeos! |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
The most unusual noises are roosters in the early morning, peacocks late in the day and an occasional donkey baying. | | The closet city similar to Norco is Orange Park Acres in Orange County - about 40 miles away. It also is a residential area that allows horses in your backyard and has miles of horse trails. It is a bit more upscale than Norco. | | Riverside Community Hospital is the best. Although Corona Regional is closer to Norco, RCC is cleaner and has a trauma unit. | | Downtown Riverside is always a great place to visit all the historic sites. Norco has a great indoor arena that hosts rodeos, parades and horse shows. |
General comments | | | | | | |
This town is like old-fashion America. Good. Friendly. Caring. You can feel safe here. Our neighbors look out for each other, we have block parties, share fresh eggs and veggies from our yards and take care of each others animals when needed. | | | | | | |
