In the summer time Old Orchard Beach is really hot. Hot to the point where you have to carry a water bottle around with you when you site see. It's windy at the ocean though so that would be the best place to go on a really hot day. Though the wind is warm it's not as hot as the air. When it rains, it's pretty heavy there. There are hotels right by the beach that would get hit the most and have the most damage due to high winds and heavy rains. The winter time most of the shops and amusement parks are closed down. Once the tourists go home for the season after Labor Day. | | Crime rate in Old Orchard Beach I believe is low. You don't hear too much noise on the news about them. Though there is a few times when you hear someone killing another person either over something dumb like a parking space or a small argument. I don't hear too much about fighting over drugs or drug raids or anything like that. I think that mostly Old Orchard Beach is a quiet place to live. An expensive place, but a quiet place compared to Lewiston and Portland. There is Crime Rate every where though.
| | Worst part of town is heading away from Old Orchard Beach going up towards Pine Point. That's a rough patch because people are hanging out late at night on the street. Whether it just be talking or causing trouble. If you are hanging out in a group past 11 at night than there's something to be sketched out about. I am paranoid anyways, but to me that is the worst part of town up by the smoke shop and other little shops. Someone would be able to break in easily and probably leave before the cops show up. | | It's mostly tourists that are at Old Orchard. They seem nice for the most part. I think that some tourists are quite rude, like we owe it to them to give them a tourist attraction. They aren't too considerate when it comes to being nice to the locals. So when it comes to us regular folks that live there year round that would be the people really don't want coming in and disturbing our routine. The tourists that are being the nuisance of course. There are some that can be nice and I feel bad for them because it only takes one bad apple to fall from the tree to think that all of them are the same. |
Downtown Area | | Restaurants | | Schools | | Single life |
Downtown is good, the shopping no matter where you seem to go there's always a shop or two. When I go shopping down there no matter how many times I go to the same shop I always find something different each time. | | Ken's seafood restaurant. A little ways from Pine Point Road. They are expensive for their seafood but where it's fresh then I wouldn't expect anything less. They do give you a really huge portion for your money though. I like to go there at least three times a year and have their seafood. When I'm done I am full and still have plenty left to bring back home for leftovers! | | Public schools, I've had friends go to school in Saco which I believe is the closest schooling for Old Orchard Beach. I think that it has good public schooling. I haven't heard any complaints about the education there. | | I am sure there are plenty of opportunity for singles down in Old Orchard. It wouldn't be hard to find someone who is single. It's a big place and with lots to do you are sure to bump into someone that might interest you. |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
For Old Orchard Beach there are no unusual noises. It's basically the party life, fast cars, loud music, loud people. With every town there is a rowdy bunch and down by the hotels and the ocean it's really loud at night time because of the party goers just celebrating life and the summer time. It's best to go to Old Orchard in the summer because in the winter it looks like a ghost town. | | Scarborough and Biddeford are the two towns around Old Orchard Beach. There are out door feel markets in both Biddeford and Scarborough. Out door flea markets in the summer time. A lot of people like to go to sorts of things who live around there. Even out of staters. I think the expense of living in these towns though is expensive. Between the waterfront properties and plenty of things to do that's why the cost of living is so high. The houses and buildings seem to be up to date and sturdy that could be another reason why too. It seems no matter where you go in Scarborough there is plenty of things to do. | | Maine Medical Center is the only one I've been to there. That's located in Biddeford one of the closest hospitals. I have gone there for teeth problems and kidney stones. They do a great job taking the pain away while you are waiting for a doctor to see you and recommend what they think is best for you to do. | | Nicest place to visit is the Old Orchard Beach Park. You can spend all day there going on the rides and playing in the arcade. When its hot they have water slides that cool you off for a few minutes. All summer long the amusement park is open and across the way there are bars for the night life. |
General comments | | | | | | |
Impressions of the town. I really like it, there is so many things to do there that its unbelievable. I love the fact that they have many shops to go into and look around, though some of the shops are really expensive. I like the amusement park that they have down at Old Orchard. The ocean is and the sand is pretty clean for the most part. There are some people who like to leave trash and not put them in trash cans a few feet away from them. If you don't want to shop there are plenty of fast food places that you can go into into set down and eat. I think that anyone could have a lot of fun down there no matter who they were.
