Weather | | How much crime? | | What are the neighborhoods like? | | What are the people like? |
Pacifica is a city that just has that "perfect-weather" quality to it. The Mediterranean climate here draws you in and makes you want to stay. Summers are pleasant, with highs most often in high 70's to mid 80's. Many homes have no air conditioning needs. Rainy days are common, and summer fogs produce drizzle and "fog drip" from the trees. Winters are very mild, with average temperatures in the mid 40's and 50's, and absolutely no snow. | | Pacifica is a safe place, plain and simple. Crime is very low, with minimal burglaries and thefts reported, and few assaults. Youth activities can sometimes create disturbances or vandalism. For the most part, crime isn't something residents spend a lot of time worrying over. | | Pacifica has few "better" areas than others. The most desirable area of the city without a doubt is the coveted coastline, which is covered by beautiful homes and resorts, particularly Rockaway Beach and Pacific Manor. These multi million dollar homes and beach bungalows are immaculate and picturesque, interspersed with little fishing villages and areas. If one were to find poorer areas, they would be more towards the highway which runs through the center of town, where some older buildings are not as carefully maintained. | | The people in Pacifica are friendly and welcoming, though you do meet the occasional rich snob. The vast majority of people are white, your typical California-type, with a small percentage of Pacific Islander and Hispanic. Many of the population is young, with a free-thinking mentality, as well as a good number of surfer types. There's a lot of families with young children. There are also a good number of older and retired persons, a wealthy community. |
Downtown Area | | Restaurants | | Schools | | Single life |
The downtown area and shopping are an excellent place to find treasures and trinkets. A number of great seafood spots dot the area. | | Nick's Rockaway provides excellent seafood, fresh-caught daily. The Surf Spot is a popular trendy joint offering great subs and burgers. | | In addition to its many private schools, there are a number of public high schools and elementary schools providing excellent education. These schools are on par with or above the average of the rest of the US. | | The singles scene in Pacifica is admittedly low, though one merely has to travel a few minutes to San Francisco to find as much of the night life and dating scene as could be wished for. |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
Not a lot of noise pollution exists in Pacifica. Main sources of noise are tourists. (And the crashing ocean surf.) | | Pacifica could be considered better and quieter to live in than neighboring San Francisco, which is a giant of a metropolis where cost of living is high and population is dense. Pacifica could also be considered better to live in than San Jose, where there is no ocean view, and the noise and pollution of traffic are present. | | Pacifica Hospital provides excellent acute and critical care, though more complex patients are frequently transported to San Francisco. | | Pacifica has a variety of places to visit. Amazing beaches with great fishing such as Linda Mar Beach and Rockaway are popular, as well as an endless supply of great surfing. Devil's Slide Trail and Pacific Ridge Trail are great hiking trails. Sharp Park Golf Course is popular with tourists. |
General comments | | | | | | |
Lovely is a word that comes to mind when taking into consideration the feeling of Pacifica. The ocean waves and crashing surf are a calming, ever-present backdrop of this city. It's a popular tourist spot and surfing destination, and fishermen line the docks to try their luck. It's a toes-in-the-sand type place that is inviting and peaceful. There's nothing quite like the spray of the Pacific ocean in your face first thing in the morning. | | | | | | |
