Jake Dempsey reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
The weather in Paterson is much like other states along the mid-Atlantic Corridor. There is not a lot of extreme weather in this area except for a rare hurricane or an even more uncommon tornado. The summers in this town are generally hot and humid, with thunderstorms and heat waves. The winters are long and cold, with several inches of snow throughout the season, and a few nor'easters that dump even more snow than usual. There is a great deal of crime in this city. The most prominent type of crime in this town is by far drugs. There are dedicated street gangs operating in this town as well as individuals who are selling as well. There are also a great deal of people that are into stealing products from people's home and cars in order to sell them to fund their drug selling or their drug habit. Also, there are a lot of people who are arrested for assault in this city, and there are a few murders every year. The Great Falls section of the town is probably the safest, and also the most historic area of the city. There are not a great deal of houses in his area, but the ones that are here, as well as any apartments, are made from stone and can date back almost one hundred years. They are nice in the sense that they are sturdy and secure, however only the wealthy, white families can afford to live her. The worst part of town is in the Hillcrest section. It is far enough away from the center of the city for the drug trade of be prominent. There are police calls in that part of the city all day and night, and it is famous for being home to street gangs. The people that live there are diverse in race, but tend to be very poor. The town is mostly populated by various racial and ethnic groups who are mainly young, blue collar, under-educated, and have a very low standard of living. There are many racial groups such as white, black, Hispanic, Lation, and many different Asian groups. Of you are a wealthy individual, then the majority of the town will only see you as a mark for crime of a potential customer. Rich white people in general will not fit in well in this town ,as they are frequently seen as the problem that is holding the city back.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown shopping area is packed with shops and different cultures that provide interesting products. The best and most famous are Tucanos and Griseldas. They specialize in Italian foods and provide great prices. The public schools vary quite a bit. There are some that are well funded and have good teachers, but also a few that are poorer and have fewer teachers that actually care about their students. There are lots of people to meet in Paterson as well as many bars and restaurants.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
There is a lot of noise from traffic as well as the nearby airports in Manhattan and Newark. One nearby town is called Wayne and the town is much like our own city in that it is densely populated with people. They have a much lower cost of living and a great deal less crime. It would be much better to live in Wayne than it would to live in Paterson. Another neighboring town is called Totowa. This town is mostly suburban and has a concentration of wealthy homes on the south western corner. They have higher taxes and much better shopping and living quality, so it is better to live in Totowa.St. Josephs and they have some of the best care in the area for minor to mild injuries. Trauma cases tend to be flown into Newark. The nicest places to visit are the historical monuments and the county park system.
General comments
More than anything else, the town feels rather dirty. All of the buildings in the majority of the city are old brick and look dingy as if you could run your finger across any surface and it will come away filthy. There is a lot of garbage that is just left in the street and a lot of people do not care enough about their own property to take care of it properly. The apartments and rentals are especially bad. Aside from dirty, the town becomes very scary after dark because so many places are not well-lit and you know that criminals prowl the street.
