Summers are fairly warm. Averaging around 90 degrees and winters are moderate, but can be cold. Snowfall is not usually very frequent. Rain occurs frequently during the spring and fall but there is rarely any flooding.I have never directly experienced a crime but there was a grocery store that was recently robbed at gunpoint. The police released video but I don't know that the suspect was ever caught. There are a lot of bad areas, particularly the mobile home parks and some of the neighborhoods with lots of duplexes. You usually want to avoid the far side of Dixie Highway (across from the movie theater), as well as the mobile home parks on Hill Street. The people are mostly friendly but it is a military town. Few people are from Kentucky. Most have moved there because they were either stationed at Ft. Knox or had family who was stationed there.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
There is no downtown area in Radcliff and there is very little in the way of shopping. The best restaurant is probably Song's, a Korean restaurant near Walmart. They make everything fresh and have great bulgogi. The schools are pretty nice. They have good teachers in most of them and most of the kids have a chance at a good education with an emphasis on reading. There are few opportunities for singles in Radcliff and not many single people to meet.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalGeneral comments
There can be a lot of noise from Ft. Knox. Until recently they practiced firing lots of artillery, including practicing on multiple tank ranges and the noise could be heard almost everyday all over town. That is much rarer now but you still have heightened air traffic compared to most places. It's bigger than some of the other towns nearby like Vine Grove, Brandenburg and Rineyville, but not as large as Elizabethtown. It doesn't have as many sit-down restaurants as Elizabethtown and no mall. But it has many more food options than the smaller cities. The only hospital in the county is Hardin Memorial, and I would not recommend it. If you are stable, you'd want to be transported to Louisville, probably to Jewish Hospital. The town feels very run down. There are few stores, besides convenience stores, liquor stores and Walmart. There are few very nice neighborhoods.
