The summers in Raleigh are usually hot and muggy. While there are some days that are cool and balmy, the summers are more hot than not.
The winters are cooler than other places in North Carolina. There is usually snow every winter. Sometimes it can be a fair amount (5-7 inches) or can just be a dusting. Freezing temperatures are very common at night during the winter. | | Because Raleigh is such a large city, there is some crime in different areas. Some of the smaller crimes are committed around universities because many people can get lost in a throng of students. There have been many reports of theft around college campuses. | | The best parts of town are downtown Raleigh, Glenwood Avenue, and Hillsborough Street near the North Carolina State University campus. The best houses are in neighborhoods near the college or off of Ebenezer Road closer to downtown. Classes and race vary significantly in Raleigh. There are all ethnicities and classes. | | The people are very friendly. Hillsborough Street usually has homeless people asking for money, but even they are usually nice. Most people are very friendly around shopping centers and restaurants. |

The downtown and shopping area is great. There are many small, independent stores and restaurants. There are free museums, which are some of the best in the state. There is also a beautiful garden to have picnics or just go to relax. | | The best restaurants are Snoopy's, Olive Garden, On The Border, and Gumby's Pizza. Snoopy's and Gumby's Pizza are located on Hillsborough Street and are two of the hottest places to eat. | | The quality of public schools in Raleigh is tremendous. The city is very progressive in educating young minds. They have a high graduation rate and many different options to choose from. | | There are plenty of opportunities for singles in Raleigh. Downtown has many clubs and bars, which are great places to meet new people. There are different concert venues. Many places have single's nights, where people can go meet other singles. |

Because the city of Raleigh is so large, there are many noise sources. There is a major interstate, as well as an airport. The airport is more on the outskirts of town, but it is not uncommon to see or hear a plane overhead. | | The two most popular neighboring towns to Raleigh is Durham and Chapel Hill. These three cities make up the Triangle, as they are known. Durham and Chapel Hill both have prestigious universities. While Chapel Hill is more like a college town, Durham is a bustling city with shops, attractions, and a Minor League Baseball team. | | The best hospital in the region is probably WakeMed. They are the largest and most well-known even though there are many options around the city of Raleigh to choose from. | | The nicest places to visit is the Science Museum downtown. It has state-of-the-art technology and was recently updated with a lot of new exhibits. It is free, which makes it a great option for families. Right across the street from the science museum is the Museum of Natural History. That is free too, so there are two attractions right together! |

The town has a small-town feel, but it is one of the fastest growing cities in America. Even though there are a lot of residents, the traffic is usually manageable as long as you do not venture out during rush hour. The town has a great mix of culture and attractions to make anyone feel like they belong. | | | | | | |
