Charles Langat reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
As a Southern City, Richmond has sunny and humid summers, early springs, late falls, and mild winters. Daytime temperatures are high during while night time temperatures are quite low during summer. From time to time, the area is hit by tropical winter storms during summer, but it doesn't cause damage.Although Richmond has a great mix of urban and suburban environments, it's often regarded as less safe than most cities in the US. Break-ins, assault, auto-theft, and sex-related offences are not unusual in Richmond.Churchill Hill, Near West End, Northside, and Fan District have great and safe neighborhoods. If possible avoid, Carver neighborhood (to the north of broad street). It has a bad reputation on matter pertaining to security.

Richmond is made up of a majority whites and blacks, but there is also a significant number of Asians live in this city.

Richmond has diverse and distinct neighborhoods each with its signature sights, sounds, and demeanor. Fan District has one of the longest stretches of Victorian architecture styles. You will find an eclectic mix of Classic Italianate, Romanesque, Colonia Revival style homes and quaint cafes& restaurants. Carytown has residential houses typical of the 1920s-era homes. Newtowne West and Jacksonward (a predominant center for black commerce) holds a considerable number of African-Americans. Byrd Park has a mix of 2-storey bungalows, cape cods, bric colonials, and four squares typical of the 1930s and 40s era. Neighborhoods in Westoverhills are well-established and homes are varied in styles. Woodland Heights has a mix of suburban and urban homes.
Richmond has a predominantly large and vibrant black and white communities. So, blacks and white folks will feel at ease. Folks here are conservative and somewhat nice. It's not unusual for people to say 'hello' to strangers. Most young folks gravitate towards the urban areas while families and retirees live in close-knitted communities. Racism is still and issue but, for the most part, its confounded to ethnic-centered neighborhoods.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
Downtown Richmond everything you need from Trendy shops, fabulous restaurants, and tony loft apartments. There are several entertainment venues, historical landmarks, and great shopping facilities.Tarrant's cafe and Lemaire restaurant anytimeThe quality of schools in Richmond is commendable. The urban side of Richmond offers quite a number of opportunities for singles. Most singles live in the Fan area . Overally, there's a hippie, creative, and fun-loving culture for out-going and socially active young folks but not enough energy for spontaneous folks.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
Like most cities along the Virginia Waterfront, Richmond has key military installationsJust like Norfolk, Richmond offers the serenity of rural environment and modern convenience. The cost of living is cheaper than Virginia Beach and DC and the city itself is highly livable and less congested. You will find good shopping outlets here just like Chesapeake and Norfolk. If you're looking for a mix of urban and suburban, great weather, and plenty of outdoor activities then Richmond is a great place to live.Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center is a decent hospitalI'd definitely recommend Japanese Garden, Viriginia Museum of Fine Arts, and the expansive Monroe Park
General comments
Richmond is a modern city that has a mix of urban and suburban environments. The urban downtown is bustling and so is the riverfront with an array of hotels, restaurants, and shops. The rural side brings out the best of Richmond as a 'capital of the confederacy'. You will find history museums, cultural centers, and monuments, and statues dotting different parts of the city. Though safety is an issue, most neighborhoods are well-established. Richmond has a mix of modern homes and Victorian-style historic homes. You'll find the best of both worlds here.
