Maggie reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
The weather here in the summer months can get pretty hot averaging at about 95 degrees. Winter can get very cold with the weather averaging at 36 degrees. Santa Clarita is known to have strong winds and heaving rain. There are no hurricanes or tornados.About 50% of the crimes in this town are thefts and 20% are burglaries. I've never personally experienced any crime here, however I've heard stories of thefts and one incident of a burglary occurring. Santa Clarita is generally average in terms of safety. There are some parts of town that are very safe. The best parts of town are Bouquet Rd/Esguerra Rd, Willow Glen, Stevenson Ranch, Crescent Park, and Silver Creek Valley. Some of the lower quality areas of this town are by Newhall and Northcliff Dr/Shadow Isle Dr. The median home rates in this part of town are $290,000-$365,000 with the general race being Mexican and Middle Eastern. In the better parts of town the average price for homes is $650,000 with mainly american residents. Most of the homes are newly built for those with middle to high income. Most of the people living here are family oriented and wealthy. The people are generally very welcoming and some aren't. Young, educated, white, single and older people would best fit in a town like this. Certain parts of this town are very family friendly an those with families would enjoy living here. Gangs and those with low income would have a hard time fitting in well because this town is mainly for those with average to high income. For those who prefer the city life and clubs this town would also not be the pest place to live.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The shopping centers here are very nice with many options of stores to chose from. They offer nice outdoor seating and a train/playground for the kids. The best restaurants are Elephant Bar, Wolf Creek restaurant and Grill, Piccola Trattoria, and Egg Plantation. This town offers one of the best quality of education. The teachers are very knowledgeable and the district is of good quality. The school campus's are beautiful. Majority of the students in the public schools here end up in top colleges. There aren't much opportunities for singles here in regards to lounges and clubs, however there are many shopping centers, restaurants and a few bars for singles to meet.
Noisetown comparison vs.Best hospitalTourist attractions
There are no unusual noise sources in this town. There are no nearby planes and the highways are away from the homes.Compared to its neighboring town of Sylmar, Santa Clarita is definitely much safer and family friendly. The city of Sylmar has higher crime rates and the quality of schools are not as good as Santa Clarita's. Santa Clarita is better to live in when you want to raise your own family, are retired, and prefer to be away from the city life. The name of the local hospital is Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial hospital. The hospital is average in regards to how well patients are treated. The nurses and staff here are warm and welcoming. The nicest places to visit around this town is Six Flags Magic Mountain, Westfield Valencia Town Center, and Mountasia family fun center.
General comments
I love visiting this town because of how peaceful and beautiful it is. There are many parks and shopping centers and most of the homes are far from the local shopping areas. This town has a very family oriented feel to it and for young adults this town may be a bit boring. This town is suburban and the environment reminds you of when you were growing up with kids on the streets riding their bikes and playing outdoors with each other. I enjoy how many nice parks this city has to offer for those who live here. Living in this city does require you to make long commutes though and for those who prefer shops being closer by you might feel annoyed because of how much driving is required to live here.
