Weather | | How much crime? | | What are the neighborhoods like? | | What are the people like? |
The weather in Savannah is mild but extremely moist. A lot of the time people complain of the extreme humid weather that is present during April-July. The coast gives Savannah a much needed breeze in the area that really offsets the humid air during the spring. Winter's are usually above average fro most areas of the south. Tornado's and Hurricane's/Tropical Depressions are what you have to worry about most with this area. | | The crimes that take place in Savannah are not ideal, and this area is high in crime. Most of which being drug related or crime that comes from opportunity. Leaving valuables and unlocked cars getting stolen are common traits that you see when hanging around Downtown. Some areas, such as the historic area of Savannah don't see as much crime but as you more closer towards the square you can see the prevalence. In home invasions usually happen a couple times a year and sometimes you hear of some disturbing things that happen. Such as murders, or home-invasions that turn to be deadly. All in all Savannah is area of location. If you pick the right neighborhood to live in, and you're weary and responsible in keeping yourself safe then you should be fine. | | Downtown definitely has it's strong points and bad points. Most of the people there are going through the big changing phase with development. New and extravagantly built houses are being placed near MLK street However anywhere near Montgomery is not a place you should go to. Mostly african-american, and high crime. House's aren't built as well, and are extremely old. Downtown has the better places to live, near interstate 6. You can find some of the nicest places to live in historic downtown. Rincon and Southside Savannah are prime locations, with large, lavish, and extravagant homes. Most of the people who live there are white and very rich. | | Savannah gives off the hippie/hipster vibe whenever you walk through the streets of the historic area. I would note that there is also a large abundance of different type of people here as well. White, Black, hippie, etc all make up an abundant amount of the area. However it does have a strong prevalence with hippies. Everyone here is a young liberal and it would not fit if you came from a normal conservative small southern town. If you're not into other people from around visiting (tourists) than this town will not be the place for you either. |

Downtown is what savannah is known for. The historic area bordering riverstreet is where most people go to. The shopping is excellent with some SCAD students having their own shoppes. Everything is nice and up-to-date which definitely makes it a top choice. | | The Great Mexican restaurant is definitely an area that should be shown some courtesy when visiting Savannah. It has some of the best Mexican dishes. Going down historic downtown, you can find some cool restaurants everywhere you look. | | There area a large amount of private schools in the area. The public school system is not the best and get's a lot of heat for it. However almost all the private schools are some of the best in the southeast. | | Being in Savannah you can get hundreds of tourists come in. Normally they are young, and with the fluctuation of 20-somethings the opportunities are endless. The bars also offer a great scene to meet people. |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
The club scene is really big here and you will definitely hear it if you live near the downtown area. Nothing really serious besides that. | | The Georgetown area is neighboring to Savannah and I would not come across there even if you paid me to live there. Traffic is one of the worst in the area and the cost of living is not worth the location its in. The job market there is not all that great either. Wilmington island is one of the neighboring areas as well to Savannah. It's a nice area and popular because of tourists. Has one of the best distributions of preppy clothing and is a overall a quality place to live. The cost of living is high though, so if you're willing to spend some money and get a nice view of the waves this is the place to live. Savannah tops both of these areas, and wilmington island by a hair. Although WI has better commodities as compared to Savannah, it doesn't seem like the place for a middle-class american. | | Memorial University Medical Center is the closest local hospital. It's not the best hospital, but it does help out that they have some top cardiologists in the country. | | The town has a wonderful African-American museum that houses a lot of history form the civil rights era. The Civic center is also a great choice to visit. SCAD is all around downtown and the area and it gives you an awesome look into the school itself. |

Savannah to me feels like your normal hipster town. A young and upbeat liberal area with a lot of art schools and a university. There's a lot of room to grow here and you cant say that often with a lot of towns in the south. Although it's very hip, I always did sense a hint of uneasy feeling in the area. Maybe because of all the crime. With all the cool places to shop, and all the bars to hang out in I really see Savannah as a great place to live in for a little bit if not the rest of your life. | | | | | | |
