Summers are hot and humid. There are about 51 inches of rain every year. There is some snow in winter. July and August are the hottest months with highs in the 90's. The coldest months in winter are December and January with lows in the 30's.Texarkana is a high crime area-high for Arkansas. Assaults, robberies, and theft are the most common crimes.Texarkana, Arkansas si relatively poor. Most industry is on the Arkansas side. South Texarkana between Stateline and Hwy 71 is a bad area with many vacant houses. The area around East Street is a bad area.The population of Texarkana is about 65% white and 30% black. The people are friendly. Mixed race couples are common. The income in Texarkana is fairly low. The Sugar Hill Road area in north Texarkana is a good area. Most of the people in this area are white.

There is good shopping on the Arkansas side. The downtown area is a shadow of its former self. The best shopping is on the Texas side near Central Mall.Cattlemen's Steakhouse and Park Place Steaks are two of the best restaurants. Zapata's Mexican restaurant is good.The Arkansas side high school teams are known as the Razorbacks.There are clubs, bars,and restaurants in the Texarkana area. One of the most popular is the Electric Cowboy.

I 30 is a noise source.The nearest town similar in size to Texarkana is Bossier City Louisiana. Bossier is dynamic and growing. Bossier City is on the road up. Texarkana is trying not to go farther down.St. Michael's Hospital si considered the best hospital. There is also Wadley regional Medical Center.There is a historical district near Stateline Avenue which features restored homes from about 1900. The annual Four States Fair and Rodeo is a big event in Texarkana.
General comments   
Coming into Texarkana from the east on Hwy 82, the city looks old, poor and rundown. Texarkana has seen better days. The Arkansas side is relatively poor. The downtown area is not good.
