Maggie reports in this review:
WeatherHow much crime? What are the neighborhoods like? What are the people like?
The average high in the summer months are 80 degrees and the average low in the winter months is 46 degrees. This town has heavy rain, winds, and flooding in the winter. There are no hurricanes or tornado's in this town. Since Torrance is by the beaches the weather is usually on the cooler side.Torrance ranks average in terms of safety. It's not the safest town to live in but it's also not worst in terms of crime. The only kinds of crime I've heard of happening in this city are property crimes such as burglaries and theft. 63% of the crimes in this town are thefts and about 18% are burglaries. Some of the best parts of town are the homes near Van Ness Ave & W 182nd St, the homes in this part of town, the median average price is $567,000 with rental prices being $1,593. Some other good areas to live in are Torrance Blvd & Hawthorne Blvd, Anza Ave and Del Amo Blvd. Majority of the race who live in these parts of town are Asian. The homes are older and well established. The worst parts of town are in the southern parts of Torrance by Janet Ln/Pacific Coast Highway, and West Carson. Majority of the people in worst parts of town are African and Asian. If you're a city boy/girl at heart Torrance is definitely for you. The people here are very friendly and majority of the race is Asian and White. If you're single, old, educated, white, or Asian you will fit in a town like this. Those who are poor or gang affiliated would not fit in this town especially the better parts of it. The homes are pricey and if you make good money you will do just fine living here.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The town has one shopping center called Del Amo Fashion Center that offers a variety of shops to go to. The mall is huge and does require you to walk around a bit. Overall the shopping areas in this town are good. The best restaurants are Aristo Cafe, Musha, Elephant Bar, and Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ.The standard for academics in the public schools are great. However the quality of student at the schools are as great because of bullying. The teaching staff are very professional and knowledgeable. There are a variety of night clubs and lounges in this town for singles to meet.
NoiseBest hospitalTourist attractionsGeneral comments
There is an airport in this town that may be a cause of unusual noise source as well as nearby highways near the neighborhoods. The name of the local hospital is Torrance Memorial Medical Center. Its a non profit hospital and locally governed. The staff here is nice and provide quality healthcare services. Some of the nicest places to visit are the Wilson Park, Chen Art Gallery, Torrance Cultural Arts Center and Palos Verdes Bowl. The city is a great place to visit for culture, food and entertainment. It's minutes away from the beach so that makes the city more of a joy to live in. The cops are always present so you get a sense of safety being here in the better parts of the city. The city is clean and with beautiful scenery and parks. The city does tend to get overly crowded and the traffic here is horrible on the highways.
