Weather | | How much crime? | | What are the neighborhoods like? | | What are the people like? |
Summers are nice and warm & the sun usually lasts late in the day. Spring is clear & breezy with frequent light rains and mists. As Fall approaches the days become very dreary and overcast with only a couple hours of sun if that. It can begin to get chilly and windier earlier than most cities. Winters are cold and icy with a lot of rain. But this is all relative to a state hosting beautiful rain forests and mountain ranges. | | Vancouver hosts a decent amount of crime for such a small spread out city. There are a lot of drug related crimes involving home invasions, robberies, break-ins.etc. There is also a good amount of vandalism occurring lately from under aged minors. None of the crime is too serious though and it comes in waves. Overall it's not that bad. | | I lived directly downtown so I'm not sure. There are several very nice suburban neighborhoods on the outer areas to choose from though. | | Honestly the people are not as friendly here, & I'm not sure how to say it but they just seem distant and void, like they are unhappy with their own lives. Not a lot of emotion or enthusiasm when speaking to one another. |
Downtown Area | | Restaurants | | Single life | | Noise |
Downtown is an old town shopping area a very limited amount of options. You have a couple of older boutiques, furniture stores, hardware stores, etc. There is a mall and other strip malls surrounding it much further out,but honestly I would go elsewhere for all your shopping unless you are only in need of the basics, | | There are some great little Thai restaurants and a couple of good classic Italian joints. They have recently opened some new coffee shops as well, but there are not a lot of food options here besides your typical sports bar fried foods & even then not a good variety to choose from. The outer laying town hosts several fast food restaurants but nothing fancy. | | In my opinion, it does not seem like a town for singles at all...unless your looking for a divorcee with 3 kids. Ha! But seriously, there isn't much going on here. I think they would have better luck traveling to the next biggest city. | | The town is virtually quiet. I really haven't witnessed any loud noises at all. |
town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions | | General comments |
It's a small town but it is spread out making it feel larger and more distant than it actually is. | | The main hospital here is actually very nice, clean, fast and efficient. I have been admitted there and also visited family members at this location. Unfortunately I do not recall the name but it the main one in Vancouver maybe even the only one. | | Mount Hood is probably one of the closest natural areas that I would suggest viewing. It's great for skiing, climbing, backpacking, and camping. | | I personally think that the town itself feels somewhat hollow. It seems as though the entire town has been stuck on a broken record repetition for so long that it is uninspiring, and mundane to the ones who live there. There isn't much excitement going on and the whole town shuts down by 8-10 making it feel like a ghost town. |
